Abru Arrow 3 Section Aluminium Loft Ladder

Arrived quickly, very easy to install, solid when easily pulled down and easy to push back up.

Searched long and hard for a loft ladder. Compared several, before deciding on this one. Read lots of reviews on here before purchase and can confirm this is a good bit of kit for the price. The item is quite lightweight and seems fairly flimsy however It is substantial enough to hold my weight (95kg) with no worries.... Ladder quite easy to fit for an experienced DIY'er and took me the best part of a day, but I did have to reverse my loft hatch opening and raise the loft floor six inches to miss some pipework which was unfortunately in the way. Bought a catch to go with the ladder as came up as a suggested purchase, but don't do this because there is an adequate catch supplied with the ladder. So everything required is included, though as others have said, the screws could be better, but as much as I prefer other screws I persevered with those supplied and they work ok.

Inexpensive and not too difficult to put up

I liked this so much, I've just ordered another for another property. Once I'd figured out the assembly and instructions I found it sturdy, light and takes up less room in the loft than a 2 section equivalent. I was surprised to find it came with the extra bits you need, such as the latch and hinges to convert an upward lifting/loose board type loft hatch to a hinged downward loft hatch. I noticed another review that said it was flimsy and bent, but all I can think is that it wasn't assembled right or they hadn't put the stays across on both sides before use, because I weigh 16 stone and have lifted heavy boxes into the loft and it's fine! I didn't have to write a review for this product but felt it deserved credit where it's due. If you're handy at a little diy and don't mind making a few minor adjustments to your opening, then go for it.

No problems at all

The supplied instructions are clear and easy to follow, as a result the installation is straightforward. The ladder is very light and therefore very easy to deploy and stow away. Of course the very lightness means that the ladder gives slightly in use. I compared the different types of loft ladder very carefully and whilst the wooden ladders are more solid they are of course heavier and the weight is supported by the trap hinges whereas this ladder is fixed to the loft floor. Another important difference is that the aluminium ladder extends to or above the loft floor level which is more important where insulation has been put in with boarding above as under current requirements the floor is raised.

Isn't suitable for 3M height and when refunded I was given a partial refund instead of the full amount, despite the description saying it would work.
