Wilkinson WOTBS Hot Rails Ceramic Single Coil Sized Humbucker Bridge Pickup for Strat Stratocaster Electric Guitar, Black

Five stars for the price. I was between this, the SD Hot Rail, and a Little 59. There are sonic differences between these 3 but they all sound good and ‘better’ is a subjective determination. I had to use sandpaper to slightly enlarge the pickguard hole to mount this, but that was expected with any of these choices. I used a .047 cap in the wiring and this does exactly what I wanted. I play in a cover band and an HSS pickup configuration is the most flexible setup you can have. This packs a punch. It’s not exactly a humbucker- it’s somewhere between a humbucker and a hot P90, but with no 60 cycle hum. Highly recommended.

This is my first experience with rail style pickups. I’ve had great results with most of my previous Wilkinson pickups in the past, so these seemed like a reasonable gamble. I love my single coil guitars but the hum from the power lines has become unbearable. I’m not talking about RF noise which cavity shielding will take care of. I mean serious noise coming in magnetically through single coils (all my humbuckers are silent). Rather than trading in all my single coil guitars, I figured I’d give these a try. Not much money for a test. Well, I am very positively impressed! These things sound great! I was really afraid they’d just sound like humbuckers and then what’s the point since I have humbucker guitars. But no, they retain some of the thinner, cleaner, chiminess of single coils (I assume because the coils are so small). I’m running them as shipped with the mini coils in series because, well, as I said, I need to cancel hum. They are totally quiet, no hum, no buzz, nothing! The neck and middle are perfect. The bridge is very hot - had to lower that one quite a bit to balance outputs. Now I just wish Wilkinson made these in a few different “flavors” as there’s not much flexibility in putting all the same pickups in different guitars.

These things sound great. I'm used to super hot pickups, they pack a little more punch than single coil, not super hot but definitely effective for the price. Not bad at all

Bought these as a set. Installation was a breeze. I installed them in my project strat style guitar in under an hour start to finish. I read on other reviews that it may be necessary to modify your pickguard slightly. This was not the case for mine as the pickups went in tightly, but, when installing at a slight angle, the tops of the pickup slip through the holes with no issue. Once I soldered them in and set the pickup height, I was surprised at how good these things sounded. Overall, this is a great pickup set for the money. They look great and sound better than I expected. They still have a distinctive Strat sound but no hum and a little bit darker middle tones. I am very pleased with the sound so far.

Why did you pick this product vs others?: Chose these pickups for the price. Installed on a Squire Strat. Nice tones. Much louder than the stock single coils. Handles gain well. Looks sharp.

Great for the money. Real similar to the dimarzio. Watch shipping times if you need them in a hurry. The listing said a week and it took 2 weeks to get mine. These worked great on my telecaster.

Bought a SX strat for £25 and wanted to change out the rubbish pickups. I've used these in the bridge position on a few guitars and they always deliver. Fitting 3 has transformed the guitar! It has no right to sound as good as it does given the cost! Also fitted a 4PDT switch to coil tap them all and mimic the classic strat sound. These pickups are an absolute bargain!
