Pre-cut Pick and Pluck Cubed Foam Block Insert 440mm x 310mm x 90mm For Use on A501 Flight Case, Storage Cases, Game Box, Tool Box

Loved this product, I needed a case to transport my gun collection for when I am conducting international cross-border missions, but they are all a bit pricey. I bought this, chucked it in an old samsonite briefcase and hey presto! You just pluck out the columns of foam you don’t need and you’re left with a deep space to put your grenade launcher in. Do bear in mind that the columns are cut right through, so you can’t pull out half a column unless you tear it. You will need to either cut the whole thing in two lengthways, or pull out whole columns, cut them down, then place them back in. That also means that you can’t have any “islands” of foam as they aren’t attached to anything at the bottom or top, so your cut-outs need to be continuous. Also bear in mind that as the columns are pre-cut they are weak on their own; together they are fine but if you leave a single column attached to the rest of the foam it will bend when you place something on it. Overall, a cheap and brilliant solution if, like me, you are required to commit war crimes. Or maybe you’re a photographer or something , idk.

I bought this to replace the foam in a similarly sized Pelican case. The foam fitted almost perfectly (the corners in the Pelican case are a bit more rounded). It seems a bit less dense than the Pelican foam, which somehow comes across as "cheaper" feeling to me. Also the pluckable cubes are a bit easier to pluck, therefore making the resulting shape a bit less robust I suppose. At the end of the day, however, it is going to do the same job, probably just as well, and was MUCH, MUCH less expensive than the Pelican foam.

Good product. Easy to use. Recommend using an extendable craft knife to aid removal of the squares.

Having checked the dimensions I ordered this to replace the foam insert in my Maplin branded flight case. I use it for storing and transporting a camera, and I'd got some new accessories and needed to reconfigure the layout. It went in smoothly, and it was easy to pinch out the cubes - but not so easy that the foam was weakened round the equipment. I wouldn't hesitate to use this product again if I need to reconfigure again.

Bought to pluck out spaces for mugs & glasses to store in our motorhome, does the job!
