Brother SA538 Seam Guide

I have an SE600 this fits my plate and works better than any other seem guide I've bought in the past. Easy to remove or adjust to the size needed. Small enough that it's not in the way.

Works great! I use this on the Brother SE400 machine. Screwed in perfectly. Just be aware that the marks on the Brother machines are based on left needle position and this seam guide is based on center needle position, so adjust as needed. I like that I can just loosen it and move it out of the way when not using instead of having to take it off completely.

Good Seam Guide

My machine was not listed among the compatible ones, but I have the little screw hole in the face plate mentioned in the questions and answers, so I thought I'd take a chance. It works just fine with the needle in the center position. My only critique, and my reason for 4 stars instead of 5, would be that I would prefer the guide to be closer to the foot and needle for those curved seams, like it dipped back instead of forward, or was wider. Glad I purchased! Readers please take the 1 star reviews with a grain of salt. Getting mad that it doesn't fit is more of a seller feedback issue not a product review. As long as you don't tear apart the packaging, just return it.

Great for keeping seams accurate. Just make sure it's compatible with your machine before ordering. Your machine must have a screw hole on the right side of the needle plate. As my pictures show, this works with my Innovis NQ900PRW, but will not work on my CS-6000i. (I knew this before ordering.) It's adjustable so you can set it to a variety of widths, not just those marked. (1", 1/8", etc) Just measure from your needle and set in place. It's also great for keeping your top stitching even. (Again, see my photos.) My guide has a white thumb screw vs the orange in the photo, but it came in standard Brother packaging with the typical multi-language instruction sheet.

I have one of those fancy electronic Brother machines, so no magnetic guides for it. Before I bought it, I checked the Brother website to see if it was compatible since my Project Runway machine isn't on the list. This thing fits perfectly into the plate, to the right & measures from the needle in the center position. Of course, my Brother machine always puts the needle to the left, by default, but I can add 1/4 inch -- no probs! Or, I can move the needle to the middle. Anyway this guide is a lifesaver! Finally straight seams for me! The only problem is that you have to make sure that it's perpendicular to the needle before you screw it tight, else your seams go "in" or "out". I use a rectangular piece of cardboard to line things up before sewing. It doesn't move once you've tightened it up!

Does not fit a Brother LS2125i as described. There is no threaded hole on the machine for use with this seam guide. No return was requested because the price was low enough not to worry. I'm also inventive, so I installed a threaded insert in a hole I drilled in the machine case to get this item to work.

Works perfectly on my Brother HC3010
