Let your dreams take flight with the film that taught us to believe, Walt Disney’s Original Classic, Peter Pan. Bursting with fantasy, adventure, memorable characters, music and pixie dust, Peter Pan soars to new heights. Fantastic adventures await Wendy and her brothers when Peter Pan, the hero of their stories, whisks them away to the magical world of Never Land. After following Peter and his feisty sidekick Tinker Bell past the “second star to the right and straight on till morning,” they explore the island and Peter’s secret hideout with the rambunctious Lost Boys and leap into high-flying battles with swashbuckling pirates and the infamous Captain Hook!Bonus Features: You Can Fly: The Making of Peter PanIn Walt's Words: "Why I Made Peter Pan"Tinker Bell: A Fairy's TaleThe Peter Pan That Almost WasThe Peter Pan Story, Deleted Song: "The Pirate Song""Never Land": The Lost SongMusic Video: "Never Land" Performed by Paige O'HaraMusic Video: "The Second Star To The Right" Performed By T-SquadAudio Commentary Hosted By Roy DisneySing Along With The Movie Review: Disney Classic - What is there to say. Its a Disney classic. Review: Disney at its best - A few of the most recent Disney blu-ray releases - The Rescuers, 101 Dalmations, Aristocats amongst them - have got bad reviews for less than pristine blu-ray transfers. Whilst I agree that the video on those releases wasn't close to Disney's best, I think the cause was more the era those classics originate from (cheap 'rough-pencil' era) than Disney's blu-ray conversion. The good news is that, as an older movie from Mr Walt Disney's time at the helm, Peter Pan is a beautifully drawn animation movie and the blu-ray transfer is absolutely stunning and looks as though it was drawn yesterday. The colour is clear and vibrant and there is no noticeable blurring or distortion. The sound is equally majestic and the surround sound is brilliant, particularly for the background music. The even better news is that Peter Pan is one of Disney's best classics, with a great story, fun characters, a brilliant larger-than-life villain and more than a few laughs! This is one of Disney's absolute must have blu-ray releases!

Disney at its best
A few of the most recent Disney blu-ray releases - The Rescuers, 101 Dalmations, Aristocats amongst them - have got bad reviews for less than pristine blu-ray transfers. Good restoration of a Disney Classic!
Not much more to say, except that this is a good restoration of a Disney Classic. There are some extras which are worth watching along with some archive footage taken during the making of the film.

Superb Definition
Fast next day delivery. Grandson, almost 4yrs old delighted by vivid colours and crisp images and a lot of humour - even for adults. On a technicality, my Panasonic DVD player required change of sound settings. On inserting the Blu-ray DVD a message came up: "Sound not supported". Solution: go to Function Menu/Setup/Basic Settings/Sound/Digital Audio Output/DTS DTS-HD/ change from Bit Stream to PCM. The Audio for the blu-ray disc for UK is DTS-HD MA 5.1.

Another 'diet' release for the U.K
In what has become a worrying trend, the U.K has once again been given a slimmed-down release of a Disney classic on Blu-ray, while the retail price has remained the same. With this, no DVD is included to lend to friends or family, or to play on different equipment (strange, given that the Double Play monicker was something Disney pushed hard and long with), and there is no additional disc for the bonus features - instead, a small selection have been crammed onto the same disc as the feature film. If Disney were to reduce the retail price, then one could at least understand the reduction in overall content, but the fact that they haven't even changed the artwork from the previous DVD release is borderline lazy - particularly as other countries have a completely new product. Annoyances aside, the movie is present and retains the same restoration that was used for the 2007 DVD release. The new 1080p presentation reveals the usual hallmarks of these Reliance Media restorations; zero grain, stabilised artwork, reduction in painting anomalies and of course no film damage. As such, the movie looks gloriously clean and is the ideal way to showcase this beautiful craft. Of course, by enhancing the movie so that we see these elements without production artefacts (as one Disney executive said, ".. so that it looks as though the cel was laid fresh on the background painting") some faithfulness is lost. Removing the grain softens the image dramatically, and so although the paintings are stable, they don't have the same level of detail as in previous releases. In addition, the Chief Indian now sports pink/salmon coloured skin due to the obvious PC connotations within that very scene. When viewed on a larger TV, this Blu-ray is an obvious improvement over the previous DVD and VHS purely because of the definition, and for that reason alone a purchase is worthwhile. It's just such a pity that Disney alter the product for different countries.
