Solaxx CLG240A Reliant Salt Generator

I purchased the Salt Generator in August 2016 but didn't install it until December due to my own time constraints. In the beginning it worked great and I would have given it 5 stars. Unfortunately that did not last. The first power supply went out and was replaced in February 2017. A few weeks ago the power supply started flashing the "check cell" light. I cleaned the cell but it did not clear the light so I purchased another cell and installed it. The light was still flashing. I emailed Solaxx and they sent me the instructions on how to reset the power supply. One very annoying thing: They don't include any real troubleshooting information in the "manual" that comes with the unit. It is little more than installation instructions. After trying the procedure a dozen times with both cells and it still flashing I am ready to toss this entire unit in the trash and buy the Hayward I should have bought in the first place. The Solaxx customer service is generally decent, but their response time is very slow compared to other pool equipment suppliers I've dealt with. A final note: When this works it is a beast. It turned my green pool clear in 3 days when I first installed it and maintained a steady chlorine level in spite of the Texas sun. Unfortunately it's not reliable enough for me to rate it any higher.

This will be my second Salt Chlorine. The first one was a Jandy which cost about $500 and it worked with near zero maintenance and basically on auto pilot for 6 New Jersey summers. But when it needed replacement I couldn't find the same or similar model, so I opted for this Solaxx CLG240A. I'm happy to report that my first season with the Solaxx fair exceeded my expectations! I thought the Jandy was easy to use, but now I can see that it was a tad bit finicky compared to this Solaxx. From the first day I hooked it up, turned it on, and then barely had to make any initial settings, this thing got the newly opened pool cleaned up in like 24 hours virtually with no help from me. And then it keep the pool water crystal clear and I NEVER saw any hint of algae the for the entire summer! It made my pool care so easy I started to feel guilty! But I got over that in 5 minutes. So I'm 2 weeks from opening the pool for the 2019 summer season. If I have any probs I'll update this review, but if I don't update this by June 15th it's because I'm too lazy to come in from lounging out by my Solaxx Perfecto Pool.

Installation was pretty easy i already had an existing salt cell, just had to re wire this in the control box and do some light plumbing. produces more than enough chlorine for my 25000 gallon pool
