Boy Scout Handbook 2016

My last edition was from the mid-50's and while we had nothing to compare it with, we thought it was the best.However, this new edition is greatly expanded, both in size and scope, and covers many items of contemporary interest which were not considered important in the older editions such as the Parent's Guide to Youth Protection. While only passing note (in my opinion, at least) is made of the female complement to the basic Boy Scout organization and philosophy, but I don't think this is a major detraction. After all, be you female or male, the issues treated in the Contents are to the benefit of all, not simply "Boys".I am a retired Eagle Scout living in Bulgaria where the virtues and benefits of scouting are sorely needed in the individualistic Bulgarian society. I am getting involved with Bulgarian Scouting and will use the handbook as my welcome refresher guide.

Love the boyscouts. Put my son in scouts in grade 2. He is grade 11 now and working towards his Eagle. He has learned so much, had great role models and made so many great connections through scouting. It is a lot of effort but with a huge payoff. And the new book is great

No can you say negative about a Boy Scout handbook ? Absolutely nothing ! My grandson who is in his first year at Boy Scouts loves his handbook. And my thanks to Amazon for overnight shipping, so he could take it on a camping trip with his grandfather, who was also a Boy Scout in the 1950s.

I bought this to support my Grandson's journey toward becoming an EAGLE SCOUT.Grand-Fatherly pride makes the journey worth sharing, especially when Grandpawas a BOY SCOUT himself back in the 1960's! Quite different from my paperbackversion that guided my way...

What I liked the most is the quickness of the delivery time, the quality of the book and the smile on my kids face when they got it ! What I like the least is I think it was a little pricey, and the pages seem to come off the spiral ring if not carefully watched, rings should be sealed at each end.

Love the spiral bound book for my son! It makes it super easy for him to turn to the page that he needs to look at and not damage the spine. Definitely recommend for any boy who plans on staying in Boy Scouts.

If you have to have a Boy Scout Handbook get this one. It is SO much nicer than the older type and the spiral binding helps your son keep their place reading and prevents wear and tear on the book. So happy I spent the extra money on this.

The 2016 handbook continually refers the user to the internet for information as to plant identification. I don't see how this would be useful when hiking/exploring. It does have useful first aid information
