Too many today are not formed on these, and this simple manual is a perfect size and approach to help the everyday Catholic (without being too simple). Even the design and size of it as a table-side or carry-around manual; and the soft leather binding with the built-in bookmark makes it feel special too. Most importantly, it covers vice and virtue in a simple yet thoughtful/detailed manner, helping everyday Catholics to truly understand both vice and virtue, thus arming us in our fight against the deadly sins and truly helping us to advance in virtue and holiness.

An Essential Book for your Spiritual Library
This is a must have for your spiritual library. It is written with very thorough discussion of the degrees of each sin along with quotes illuminating the views of a saint about each sin and most importantly it gives a clear practical remedy. It is a good thing it is bound in a beautiful leather with a ribbon marker because you will read it over and over again.

Add more.
I need more to this book, add more how to conquer the sins one or two page is not enough for one sin to tackle.

The book is solid, there's no question about that (in both material & spiritual quality). The pages are a nice weight and crisp, the font size not too small and the soft leather cover is great. There is a gift presentation page at the front of the book which is nice if you want to give this to someone. The essay teachings are spot-on (wouldn't expect anything less from the Canons Regular of St. John Cantius) and the Words of Wisdom, Warning & Encouragement are a mix of quotes from Saints, Scripture, Catholic Catechism and a variety of Popes. Very solid, very Catholic, no loosey-goosey stuff. An example of the first Essay Section: Envy (pg. 63) Starts with the description of Envy from the Catholic Catechism, then a rich essay that's easy to read (But through the devil's envy death entered the world, and those who belong to his party experience it [Wis 2:24]. Theologians have speculated for centuries as to the object of Satan's envy, but such was its evil that it brought about the fall of mankind...etc.). Then follows a helpful section of Remedies for Envy, a brief sample/taste: (The primary virtue that helps to neutralize the vice of envy is generosity, which flows from the virtues of kindness and charity toward others...etc...pg. 67). An example of what you'll find in the Words of Wisdom section (pg. 233): The daughters of envy: From envy are born hatred, detraction, calumny, joy caused by the misfortune of a neighbor, and displeasure caused by his prosperity (Pope St. Gregory the Great). Then follows a section by St. Thomas Aquinas: The number of envy's daughters may be understood for the reason that in the struggle aroused by envy there is something by way of beginning, something by way of middle, and something by way of term...etc. --There are a Nihil Obstat & Imprimatur (always reassuring to see that). --Good amount of references noted (from Scripture and various writings by the Saints and the Church) There are several new-to-me prayers listed at the back of the book. Some are those that we all know (Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be), but there are also prayers for specific needs such as help overcoming Sloth & Lukewarmness, Prayer of a Soul Enslaved by Bad Habits, Against Gluttony, Against Avarice, etc. Included are a couple nice litanies (Holy Name of Jesus, Holy Guardian Angel) and meditative prayers (God Knows; Jesus, Our Model). There are a few lined pages at the back of the book to write your own tips, meditations, invocations, prayers, insights, etc. What I would have done differently: --Add another two ribbons so each section can be easily found (though favorite holy cards do the trick) --Arrange the sections differently. I would prefer to have everything in one section rather than flipping around the book. For example: Have the essay section on Lust, then follow it with the Words of Wisdom from the Saints and Remedies for Lust, then if there is a particular prayer for Lust, include it here too rather than at the back of the book. Is the book a keeper? Yes, it's a good resource and valuable addition to any Catholic's home library. Tip: This is an ideal book for Advent or Lenten spiritual reading!

The book looks GORGEOUS. It can an awesome present - soft leather with beautiful embossing, silver pages, lovely bookmark and amazing content - I absolutely love it!! I carry it around with me through a day, it’s small enough to fit in your purse and it contains lots of small quotes that can be a great 5 min read at different parts of the day. It has wonderful prayers to be read specifically against different sins - exactly something I was looking for since a long time! I love, love this amazing little book!

This book gives a detailed description of the 7 deadly sins and remedies and virtues on how to overcome them. It also gives examples from the lives of the Saints and in the back of the book are a handful of prayers to help you overcome the seven deadly sins.
