Delicious And Nutritious Treat!
Amla has been used for centuries in Ayurvedic medicine, and is one of the most antioxidant-rich foods on Earth. I consume it daily in pure powdered form in my tea for its many proven health benefits, which you can easily research online. This is the most delicious way to consume Amla! I follow a mainly whole-food, plant-based diet, so this is a real treat; it is candy. I consume it only occasionally because it contains sugar. It is sweet, tart, spicy, and slightly chewy, seasoned with a wonderful blend of fragrant spices to delight the senses. Amla, also called Indian gooseberry, or Phyllanthus emblica, is often confused with European/American gooseberries, or Ribes genus, which doesn't have nearly the incredible amount of vitamin C and antioxidants unique to Amla. I eat for health, nutrition, and athletic performance, so Amla is an essential part of my daily routine. This is fantastic!

A Winner
I didn't know what to expect from an Indian snack made of a fruit I've never heard of. When I opened the container there was a somewhat strange, herbal fragrance that hit my nose - it wasn't like anything I've ever had in my life. I tried a piece, and was pleasantly surprised. The texture of these snacks are just about right. They require some chewing, but are soft enough that even the elderly can eat them just fine. There's an herbal flavor that reminds me of curry, in a good way. The spiciness is very, very mild, barely detectable, and the sweetness level is just right. If you treat these as a medicinal supplement and eat only a few pieces a day, they will last a long time. They are, however, delicious enough for me to eat big handfuls at a time. They're a genuinely tasty snack first and ayurvedic supplement second. Given the amount you get out of the container and the price it's selling at, they're also pretty good value for the money. I highly recommend these if you're looking to expand your horizons by trying a snack from a different culture.
