Thermal GrizzlyAM5 Contact Sealing Frame - Contact Frame & CPU Guard Combination - Optimizes Contact Pressure Points & Protects Components - for AMD Ryzen 7000 CPUs

The unusual cutout of the AM5 Ryzen processors can allow heat sink compound to leak out onto the open areas on the chip and this has a rubber gasket that goes underneath it to protect against that happening. It also is a far more stable way to mount the processor to your motherboard. They provide the tools necessary to remove the stock mount and install this in it's place. I would advise you do this before you install the MB into the case. I placed my MB onto a silicone mat to protect the bottom of it and then did the procedure right on my desk. Remember to undo the existing processor mount pressure BEFORE unscrewing it. Then gently place the processor onto the socket, place this over it and and use the screws provided to evenly tighten the contact sealing frame a little bit at a time once you get to the resistance point.BTW, I used Grizzly Duronaut thermal paste, it's excellent. If you don't feel comfortable doing this, then leave the stock mount in place. Hope this helps!

Great bit of kit, has sealing gasket to prevent conductive pastes or liquid metal from getting into the cpu. The only thing to caution is that since not every motherboard can be tested, you will need to make sure there are no caps or resistors that can contact the frame when installed. I was unsure if it was touching so I removed it and added an insulating layer of nonconductive plastic around the edge. You could also use kapton tape or apply sealant or nail polish to the area, but since I wanted to be able to return my mobo if there was any future issue, I opted for insulating cardstock instead.

Thermal Grizzly does not disappoint. The package was neat and well put together. Instructions and product information included as well as the tool require for mounting the contact frame. The contact frame itself is high quality and appears to be precisely machine. The gasket that goes under the frame sandwiched between the frame and the CPU IHS is a nice touch. the gasket provides a good seal Which is what I wanted as I got the contact frame as a way to make sure the thermal putty does not get everywhere on the CPU which makes replacing the thermal putty later a more efficient task later.

While there are other much cheaper options for a contact frame, I used specifically this one for my current PC build, containing an AMD 9800X3D. The height of this contact frame doesn't exactly match the CPU Die Cooler, but it provides a clean and flat surface for my AIO, which was amazing to see! It provides excellent support for my AIO cooler, and keeps everything nice and flat, which is important for the metal contact! This is an excellent and functional contact frame, and worth the price in my opinion. Very easy installation too!

This is a great item and in my opinion should be a new standard in CPU support/retention.
