An inspirational book
I contend this is not a book just for children, I’ve been in art education all my working life and I truly believe this will inspire people of all ages to get stuck in to making art. It will also teach you lots of stuff about the artists selected. I didn’t know Hokusai moved house 93 times during his life because he was more interested and dedicated to his art than to cleaning. It’s full of fascinating snippets of information and helpful tips about art practice and art history. And deals with the thorny problem of presents for grandchildren for birthdays and Christmas this year. Well done Ruth.

Sure to inspire children
Bought for my 14 year old daughter, she is going to love delving into the many, many different styles, encouraged by the step by step guides and amazing illustrations. Great value and sure to help her through her GCSE in art. Equally, it's suitable for younger readers

Great for all ability levels
I bought this book for activity ideas to use with my students and was very pleased with the contents. It has a wealth of activities to create art in the styles of a diverse range of artists, with each having a double page spread dedicated to them. What really impressed me is that the instructions provide step by step instructions for beginners so that they can replicate the art, but the activities are so varied that more proficient children will be exposed to new ideas which they can build on. Each page also has a synopsis of the background of each artist, to prompt curiosity and further reading. Looking forward to guiding my students into making optical illusions using the Bridget Riley pages in my Maths lesson!

Fun and original ideas to work with kids!
A wonderful range of artists for children to learn about and create a piece of work inspired by their creative practices and styles. Good resource for Primary school teachers and children art tutors, as well as parents needing some fun art ideas. It's suitable for people with little or no art backgrounds too as it's very user friendly!

Easily accessible, love the illustration style and the diversity of artists covered - this gave me some great ideas/jumping off points for lesson plans for my art students, but would be a great book for younger artists at home too
