"Esbit"-style stove improved in many ways, and for less the price!
I have many types of alcohol, fuel cannister and solid fuel tablet stoves, not just a camper/bushcrafter/prepper, but a bit of a collector. This Fire Dragon is how to improve what you think can't be improved. The Esbit has been the foremost name in solid fuel stoves since it's initial offering, and rightly so. Even in WW2 the allies tried their own take, but they never seemed to last - however Esbit did, as it's compact design and ability to store fuel tabs in the body when not in use just made it convenient for civilian use as well. And now Fire Dragon has won my heart. The attachable wind screen, the deep well allowing an easier multi-fuel use. What's not to love. All the best long standing design features, taken up a notch or three. Love it! And it's price point? WTH - it's AWESOME. About half the price, but great quality.

OUTSTANDING LITTLE STOVE ...
Outstanding little stove! The best option out there (especially regarding the price) for the Guide, Hunter, Bushcrafter, Tracker, Forester etc. who's looking for a light, compact and robust cooking option. I have no doubt it's why many British military units are issued this, as coupled with its solid fuel tabs, is far superior to our U.S. issued MRE heaters. With one Dragon fuel block you can easily bring 16oz. of water to a boil with any standard canteen or stainless steel container in less than 4 minutes. Another advantage for the Soldier, Hunter or Guide is the fact that the fuel tabs are almost completely odorless with another advantage where the fuel block can be rubbed on the hands and utilzed as a hand sanitizer. The stove, when unfolded and set, also has a small wind panel insert that protects your flame from the prevailing winds. A++++++

Great with a Few Major Caveats
This is a great pocket stove for emergencies or when weight is a major factor on whatever backcountry adventure you so chose. Using the FireDragon eco-fuel blocks is a huge step up from the mess and toxicity of hexamine tabs. The squares light quickly and one brought about 20oz of ice cold water to a decent warm level for a decent cup or either a retort or dehydrated pouch. Caveat 1: it does leave a residue (see photo). However, once it cools you can wipe/scrape it out. Non-toxic to boot if using the FireDragon blocks as they are made of solidified ethanol. Caveat 2: bear in mind the FireDragon fuel squares are solidified Ethanol alcohol. Alcohol when burned is largely invisible. My main tell that the square was lit was as it started to liquify. Caveat 3: speaking of dissolving, the fuel liquifies as it burns. Unfortunately the place for the fuel is not liquid leak proof. I noticed I could see spots of light in the corners, so I took a precaution putting a cork trivet under in case it leaked out. When it did (see photo) I was able to wet the area under it to keep it contained. Be very aware of what’s under your stove before lighting it.

Really nice stove
This is a very good stove. Concept-wise it is nothing groundbreaking, but it works very well for what it is meant to do. This stove is quite similar to the esbit stoves if you are familiar with those, although there are a couple of differences. First, the esbit stoves use fuel tablets that are made from hexamine. While hexamine tablets are cheap, they smell very strongly like shrimp/fish. You have to be careful when storing them. Some people have also mentioned that hexamine does not burn cleanly, so be aware of that if you are boiling water or other consumables. This stove burns alcohol tablets. These tablets do not smell and burn much cleaner. This stove can also burn gel fuel while the esbit cannot, as there are holes in the bottom. The second (smaller) difference is that this stove comes with a small windshield which is nice. My esbit did not come with one. The only complaint I have with this stove is that fuel tablets are not included, and a little on the expensive side. Aside from that I would highly recommend this stove as an alternative to hexamine stoves.

Good Value Backpacking or Emergency Stove - No Fuel Included
This folding steel stove is designed for use of "Fire Dragon" Gelled Alcohol Fuel 'blocks' (not included). This Fuel is available on Amazon, but expensive for what it is ($9 for 6 blister packets, or $1.50 ea v.s. $0.50 to $1 per 14g Hexamine tablet or tablets). Note that the burn time for the 27g gelled fuel is about 5 minutes, comparable to the 'effective burn' time of 14g of Hexamine. The stove is well built, with a central cavity to accept and burn the gelled fuel (or a Hexamine tablet, for that matter. More importantly, the stove comes with a slip-in-place steel plate that acts as a windshield, greatly improving effectiveness of any of these "low flame velocity" fuels. One can store 3 of the Gelled Fuel Packets in the stove. The "burn chamber" cavity is not sealed at the bottom corners, however, so a liquid fuel or a Gell that liquifies can leak from the chamber - either solder seal the corners or safely test any other fuel gel or even Hexamine tablet to insure burning residue doesn't leak. You can store a couple Hexamine tablets, a few Storm Matches, and a match striker strip in the cavity, with two gel packets to the left and right, making this a versatile day packing stove or emergency stove for your vehicle.

Solid build
If you are here you more than likely know exactly what you’re looking at. It’s small, lightweight, and versatile and with a little soldering or perhaps JB Weld, water tight. I ordered 3, 2 for my wife and I for longer hikes and 1 to experiment with. I stole the soldering idea from another reviewer(I got a very cheap iron) and have put just about anything in it that is combustible and my results are below. -The edges are very sharp, I have been cut a lot for various reasons. -In pretty much every test the flame pushes out the opposite side of the wind screen. I even used a secondary, large screen and same result, so I would order a second stove for the screen or make one. -Because of the large fire box area DIY some fire gel and you could cook an entire meal.

Excellent stove, bargain price. Very sturdy but slightly heavier than needed for civillian use.
