Fantastic
This is a fantastic product. The keybed is best of all mini keyboards I've tried Artutia, Akai, Novation. It’s better than many latest mini synth keyboards from Moog, Yamaha and Roland. It powers off the iPhone and iPad and can be programmed from the unit so no additional software is required. Buy it!

Great little 4 octave midi keyboard
Perfect for what I needed. 4 octaves. Velocity control and great build quality. Needed something to use with fruity loops mobile to compose piano concerto whilst on location. So is perfect for getting down ideas to rewrite later of a proper piano keybed. Couldn't find a carry case anywhere for it though. But found something that works perfect which is a bag for light stands or tripods found on Amazon . Great little midi controller

Quality feel to the construction but keys a little too small
I gave this midi keyboard controller a test for a few days. Its nicely constructed and feels and looks like a quality item. The majority of the construction is metal which gives it a bit of weight as well as helping to reinforce the feel of the quality. I found that it was recognised immediately when plugged into my PC (Windows 10) and worked without any problems. I didn't try assigning any of the rotary controls as I don't really want this facility but I was happy to discover that the transport controls all worked within FL Studio. That's all the positives - now the slight negative: I couldn't get on for any long period of time with the keyboard itself and, although they also look and (physically) feel good, I found them too small and a bit tiring to play because of the slight resistance to pressing. I appreciate this may well be a personal preference but I especially found the black keys to be far too small. It doesn't come with any software, as is the case with its other keyboard competitors out there but, if you are not bothered by the ommission of free software (as I wasn't - all I wanted was a keyboard that I could usefully use with the software that I already own) and if you want a good quality midi controller and can get along with the small keys then I think you may find this to be a better buy than some of the other, slightly cheaper plastic controllers out there.

Great keyboard
I don’t normally write reviews but I saw this had only one review and it was negative so I felt compelled to add my thoughts. I’ve been incredibly impressed with this keyboard. This is the only 5 octave mini key keyboard I could find and it works brilliantly. It’s obviously not as easy to play as a board with full-size weighed keys, but for a sprung action, it’s fine. The buttons and touch pads have a nice feel to them and they light different colours to show how many times they have been pressed (how many octaves are transposed etc). As a piano player, at least 5 octaves is a must for me and it’s nice that I can get that in something so compact.

Very bad key mechanic design
I bought this as replacement for my too short korg 37 microkey keyboard. I also got too annoyed with the total lack of additional midi functionality on the korg. The midiplus is brilliant here. While unboxing - I was pleasantly surprised that the keyboard felt about 3 times as expensive as the korg. Also the whole design is much better - BUT - there is one major flaw with the actual keys! The way they are hinged! At their tips, they play nice, but the further up you go the harder it gets. The amount of force needed on the top of the keys is ridiculous. This would be a showstopping problem if you want to play certain chords expressively. The korg does not have this issue at all.

Ok
Makes you play different cos the keys are mini-size, but ok.

So here are the major points... -Solid metal body; sturdy and reliable -Powered by a single USB cable; no batteries or power cord required -Smaller keys that feel very different from a conventional piano/keyboard -61 notes that allow it to be compact, while having the notes you play most often available -Great for children and (in my case) a full-sized adult that doesn't mind the mini keys for sketching ideas This Midiplus X6 (as well as the X4 and X3) are MIDI controllers, not synthesizers. This means that it produces information based on your input. There are no internal sounds. You will not hear any music with this alone. What is does do is the following... When you play the Midiplus, it takes the information you input (what notes you play; how hard you strike the notes; how long you hold them etc), along with the parameters you adjust with the 2 sliders, 4 knobs, sustain pedal (NOT included)... Then it translates this information into MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface), and sends it out to the next stage of music production via the included USB cable. You will require a sound engine of some sort to hear music. These days that usually means a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) like Logic, GarageBand (only for Mac computers) FL, Cubase, Ableton, Cakewalk (free and for PC), Pro Tools etc. Alternatively, you could use a digital interface. Anyway, you will need some internal computer software or outboard hardware to hear music. A DAW is a great choice because you can record and switch instruments and create many layers, as well as edit and snap them to a time grid if you're sloppy etc. There is a ton to know, but the important points are that this is a MIDI controller, not an independent instrument. And it is a mini keyboard, not a full-sized one. If that fits your requirements, get it!
