I picked one of these up to use to power the wireless connection to my ISP, a Ruckus R710 AP, and a 3Com NetworkJack switch. The Ruckus AP uses the 802.3at standard, the NetworkJack uses 802.3af, I imagine the wireless ISP connection is also 802.3at as it is a gigabit connection up to the radio.Unfortunately, I didn't get the results I had hoped for. The wireless ISP connection seemed to work okay with the injector. However, the other two had weird problems. The Ruckus AP acted as if it was working, but shortly after plugging it in, my wife started to complain that the wireless in the house stopped working. Switching it back to an individual injector caused the problems to go away. What is odd, is the Ruckus AP claims to support even 802.3af, it just uses chains with the radio. So, for it to out-right not perform the basic function of an AP, something must have been pretty messed up with the power it was getting. Likewise, the NetworkJack would power on, and appear to work for 10-20 seconds. Then, I would hear a "click", followed by it shutting down, and then powering back on. I suspect the click, followed by the power down, was protection circuitry kicking in to protect the device from getting fried.So, because of the two devices that didn't work, I am dubious about the claim that "the green one" can autonegotiate properly.I gave it two stars because I suspect that this unit will work fine for things like IP cameras that use PoE. But, it doesn't seem to be a reliable option for several other types of devices.
