Turns Garden Waste to Chips
Superb tool. Powerful, easily portable and effective. Great for hedge clippings and will do branches up to 40mm, although I limit it to about 25mm. Not too noisy, good build quality, easy to clean. Useful prodder to help load the waste. A great buy.

Extremely disappointed
I bought a Bosch shredder more than 20 years ago and I have just had to replace it. I bought this on expecting a similar experience. How disappointed I was. The first Bosch used the corkscrew metho to shred. I could put material in it and it would pull it through automatically whilst I selected the next piece to shred. The new machine uses a rotating blades which require material to be constantly pushed through. Larger pieces of wood tend to rattle around without getting shredded or sliced. This machine is badly designed and is not a patch on the earlier model. Leaves do not get shredded and tend to block the machine up. Because it needs constant attention, its more time consuming. It can struggle with 40mm branches too. It tend to be very noisy too, especially when the ends of branches rattle around the cutting area. I am seriously considering returning this machine as it doesn't do what its claimed to do. Not recommended at all.

Good shredder
It works as expected. I am having trouble with larger circumference items, so I’m not sure it works well at the highest level that it advertises. It gets blocked quite often.

Beast
Annihilates whatever you can stuff down it's feeder slots. Unreal. Makes mincemeat out of it, very fine chips which will readily compost I'd say. Very, very impressed. Easy access to the blades, easy to assemble, easy to operate. New favourite toy.

Hugely underpowered, could not shred 28mm branches, emitted smoke
Probably the worst product of any kind that I have ever bought. It claims to have a powerful motor and maximum branch shred diameter of 40mm. In fact it could not shred any of the 25 to 30mm branches we tried. In the first 15 mins of attempted use the motor cut out a dozen times and it blocked once. The "shredded" pieces were also frequently long slices of branch i.e. it had not shredded but instead slices into pieces 2mm thick by 25mm long. When we persisted in trying to shred a 28mm branch the motor started emitting smoke! We've used shredders that cost half as much but were far more powerful and actually worked. Not as described by the manufacturer and totally unfit for purpose, so we are now seeking a return on the grounds it is faulty.I assume we got a particularly terrible machine because most others seem to have better experiences.

Replacement blade needs essential new bolt
Bought one about 15 years ago and it has been used sporadically, sometimes coping with huge amounts of Leylandii and Elder trees. Had two replacement blades and both have been resharpened. All was going as usual until the last replacement blade was fitted and after a few minutes the bolt loosened and the blade destroyed the machine from the inside out. I knew I had tightened it properly but after reading the instructions I discovered the small print - the bolt can only be used ONCE! It's bizarre that this isn't on page one in bold capitals. I'm fortunate that I used it about 6 times but even so I'm annoyed that Bosch didn't include any spare bolts with the blades. It has been a brilliant machine although prone to clogging with hedge material, and ear defenders are essential. I won't be getting another as now I realise its limitations and I need one for more robust use and really it's just for a 10 minute job not the whole afternoon. Might salvage the electric motor as that is superb.
