Wound Closure Device

These are a fantastic solution to the challenge of keeping high-movement wounds closed. I used some of these after a laparoscopic surgery in which the location of the incisions caused them to keep reopening with weekly sweaty activities, which butterfly and steristrips could not maintain closure. These plasters were able to maintain closure more securely, and lasted longer than other options.While I am extremely positive overall on this solution, it cannot go without saying that there are some downsides-1. These are extremely cost-prohibitive for more than 1 incision at a time. I had 6 incisions, which means going through an entire pack each week. They don't sell them in larger amounts for a discount, so it's a substantial recurring cost, especially compared to alternatives.2. The adhesive is very strong... Brutally strong, even. I changed out my plasters every few days, and by the 3rd plaster, the adhesive started pulling up and blistering my skin (I typically do not have sensitive skin) and irritating it severely, which leads me to my last point...3. You MUST change these out every few days if your wound is in a high-tension/movement area. No matter how clean you keep things or how well-situated your wound is, the bond between your skin and the pad will not move, but the bond between the adhesive pad and the plastic zip-mechanism will start to slip. You can tighten them up every day, but eventually the plastic will start bridging out over the skin (see my image) which becomes irritating to the feel of the plaster, and eventually you will fully tighten the zip and not be able to keep the wound together. I do not think this would be an issue on a low movement area, but on something like a stomach, it was a constant concern.My recommendation still remains strong- when used correctly these plasters do an unrivaled job at keeping a wound together, but keep in mind the costs, as well as the effects on your skin when considering these long-term.

I had seen these advertised and always wondered if they really worked. Well after getting a huge gash on my shin I used these to keep the sutures from being stressed and tearing. These stayed on well and really pulled the kin together.

Best purchase ever. The ones provided when staples were removed did not last immediately began to fall off. Highly recommend you purchase if having any surgical procedure that require stitches.

It is a great idea, but the adhesive wasn’t sticking as good as I would have liked. When I would go to pull the strap to close the cut on my hand, it would pull the sticky part up from the opposite side.I’m sure they can’t use too great of an adhesive, because then they’d have people whining about it sticking too good 🤣But it’s a great idea, just didn’t work that great for me

This product works great!!! Better solution to using butterfly bandaids in the past even though those are still tried & true!! Would recommend everyone put some of these in their first aid kits!

These were so easy to use and worked better than normal butterfly bandages. My husband cut himself with a saw and we were able to use these instead of going to the emergency room

Best idea yet. So hard to pull together cut and use butterfly stitch. This is great idea and easy to use.
