No guard it will shock you if you touch it
So far this is the best bug zapping racket ever . It’s not a toy it is stronger and more powerful than the others there is no guard and the mosquitos literally explode . I have already recommended it to friends 😁

Effective Against Large Bugs
I got this bug zapper specifically to use against a bad spotted lantern fly infestation at my office. This item is very effective with these large, hearty, quick bugs. It doesn’t always kill them immediately but it definitely stuns them, allowing for an easy follow up squishing. I was pleasantly surprised that the 2 AA batteries it uses haven’t needed to be changed since I started using it over 1 month ago following consistent, heavy use. I would particularly recommend this item for use against large bugs. I had previously tried a different unit that had a two-mesh electrical circuit but the spotted lantern flies were too large to connect the circuit. This has a simple and far more effective single-layer circuit system.

The flying insects don't stand a chance
Deadly on all bugs you can hit with it. Housefly are hard because they are so quick, but it makes quick work of deer flies, hornets and even fruit flies. We are still in our first set of batteries after using it daily for 2 months.

Fly graveyard
My wife loves taking it to the flies when the date enter her domain- sometimes she strikes them and no zap, so the contact is a bit iffy on occasion.

It works. It lasts. It's rather expensive. It's worth it
First off, mosquitos are incredibly hard to kill. And with Dengue around (I live in the tropics) it has become critical to do so. And rackets are the most non-chemical effective weapon yet. Of all I tried, the Executioner has been my favorite for years. It is relatively expensive but it works and lasts. I love the feedback: flash, thunder, and sometimes smoke (unlike the overly protected Black and Decker I also got, which lets you wondering if you made the kill. Words of caution: be careful not to hit something hard in the frenzy of the battle and break the racket. Finally, I like the use of standard batteries, but do consider rechargeables. And don't touch it while pressing the button: it won't harm you but it's unpleasant).

They don't make them like they used to
Had an executioner go out last week after using it for a year almost everyday (country living tends to mean flies) with no issues. This version doesn't 'pop' or carry the same charge as the previous version from the UK. Many times the fly doesn't die. But it's decent, a bit flimsy as 2 wires disconnected after only having it for 2 days. Still working but doesn't seem like it will for long.

Gets the small gnats the others miss
Love it. Doesn’t have that idiot guard on it so gets the small gnats the others won’t. Yes, I zapped myself once. It more surprised than hurt and I didn’t do it again. I threw away the other two because it was so frustrating to keep swinging at flying bugs that just passed through the screen unharmed.

50/50 chance that it will work
Purchased two, one has worked satisfactorily, the other worked for less than a week, thereafter continually sparking without anything around. I cleaned the wires to no avail, and contacted the company on their website link on Amazon requesting a replacement. No response in more than three weeks.. So, their customer support stinks. Amazon not anymore help. Given my experience, I'd say future purchasers have a 50/50 chance of getting a unit that works, NYT Wirecutter recommendation or not. Buyer beware.

A fabulous product purchased as a gift and much appreciated by the recipient. We had seen one in action before & this did not disappoint.

Do not get this product if you have kids or anybody who is curious to see what would happen if you turn this on and touch the zapping part - there is no protection and it will end in tears. Also, this thing knows what it is and does it well. Bugs go fizz, bugs go pop and sometime a little in between. Sometimes so loud, you expect some kind of bug popcorn to happen.

Small bugs dissappear in a pop on contact. Larger ones can just be stunned and require further attention. Creates great hilarity for my partner when I prance around the bedroom chasing them. Much healthier than insect spray as it gives you added exercise during the chase.
