I love this mailbox but unfortunately had to return it because it looked too big for our house. It is well made and I love that you have a nice sealed area where you can put your mail to be sent out. It even has a cute little red flag to let the postmaster know you have out going mail. I wish they made this box in a medium size because I would order it. Even my husband was disappointed that it didn't work for our house. Bummer!

First of all, I really like the mailbox. It looks great and I like that it can hold a lot of mail so if I'm out of town I don't have to have anyone pick up my mail for me. If it is going to leak it will be via the top ornamental finial that you have to attach with screws and rubber washers. There is no gasket to keep water from getting through. I imagine if you use the rubber washers correctly that should minimize any leakage. I'm going to put a bead of white caulk around it and then there is no way water can get inside. I installed mine on a 4x4 treated post. I had to buy a mounting bracket at Lowes (about 15 dollars) to get the box attached. I could have just done it with wood, but the bracket worked very nicely.The box isn't entirely theft proof. I can reach my arm inside through the slot and pull mail out.

I was a little apprehensive due to some of the bad reviews. I am so glad I bought this. Pros: It works perfectly. I like that it opens from the side. (It opens facing our driveway which is perfect!) It also has a door that covers the mail slot unlike other mailboxes I looked at. This is important as it protects your mail from getting wet in inclement weather. It also has a clip inside the door for outgoing mail which other mailboxes of this caliber do not have! This may or may not be an important feature for you but it was one thing that struck me as necessary but missing from the others. Finally the aesthetic is beautiful. This is one classy mailbox!Cons: Not a big "Con" but I feel I should mention that the finial on the top had a small chip in the paint. I contacted Amazon to see if they could send another finial. They said they would have to send another box and I would have to return the one I had. I did not want to do this so they offered me a $10 prorated refund. While I was chatting with customer service I found the part on the Gibraltar website for $23.91. I told 'Murali' the customer service agent this and was promptly refunded $23.91! This is why I love dealing with Amazon! Highly recommend.

Looks great! But I have to replace it with something else. With even a little rain all mail is so wet some is unreadable. It is not under a tree, or anywhere that any water can get to it except rain. Even a little rain and the mail is wet, with any extended rain (over 1 hour) even the magazines are wet all the way through. The more I looked closely on the inside, I realize there are many places water can get in. An unfortunate purchase, looks nice on the outside but unusable

This is a nice mailbox that adds curb appeal to your home however it isn't very secure, hands can reach in to retrieve contents and the box is not waterproof. Mail always gets wet when it rains.

Everything about these Mailboxes is good, except that it is not waterproof. My letters are always soaked by the rain, which is annoying.
