Kind of surprised at how beefy/heavy this is for the price. The picture doesn't quite match what it looks like in person, it's got a very sleek metal paint job, my guess is because it's sheet steel and so needs to resist rusting. That said, when bending the tabs into place to lock the individual pieces together, the paint cracked on one tab (which makes sense, you're bending painted metal, must not be powder coated).It works as advertised, already caught several mice. It does have a metal plate to prevent a rat from jumping up through the flapper. And the bait area is a flat shelf, rather than like the original product where you shmear peanut butter in a corner.Unfortunately the lid does not tightly fit onto a bucket, it's kind of loose, and I can't tell how it would be secured down well. But I definitely don't see a mouse moving it, not sure about rats. Anyway it stays on the bucket and works fine.

Why buy a plastic bucket top flipper trap of which most have reviews of broken parts right out of the box? THIS ONE IS ALL METAL!! It will last you a lifetime and through years of weather and sunshine. If it gets nasty just hit it with some spray paint. It was easy to assemble by hand with the metal fold tabs. The axle pivot and the flipper is metal and perfectly balanced for even light weight mice. Has a bait shelf thats deep in the trap so theres no reaching around steeling the bait like in other designs. The metal ramp is hinged in the middle for easy storage in the bucket and attaches to welded on mounts. Nothing to break here. Fits and snaps onto 5 ga buckets from your fav stores ( the Orange, Blue, and Red ones ;-) Im thoroughly impressed with the quality and at the same or less price than a plastic piece of junk. Can't wait to get it out for a hunt after this rain.

I regularly catch rats in snap traps but this bucket just wont catch anything. The metal ramp is awful, the metal is flimsy and cheap and if you bump the trap it falls apart. I think the flimsy quality just scares them away.

I liked the concept and was impressed by the quality of the trap's sheet metal work. I do worry that the metal tabs that hold it to the bucket could fatigue but overall, well made. When evaluating pest control items always remember that it works or does not work for particular situations. Maybe some other mice elsewhere are susceptible to this trap, but our mice could steal the bait and not fall through. I felt like if the trapdoor was designed more to be very reactive and less to look like a mouse face, that might be better for efficacy. So a decent value and maybe worth a try but not easily picking up all mice in the world.

We live on a wooded lot and keeping mice out of the garage is a challenge. On the first night this caught several mice that had managed to avoid snap traps.Easy set up - less than 5 minutes. Safe for fingers and pets. Unlike snap traps there isn’t a way for mice to steal the bait without getting caught. And unlike snap traps, this resets it self and can catch multiple mice.I used peanut butter and sunflower seeds as bait on the bait tray. I also smeared some peanut butter on the ramp and exterior to help lure mice in.

This is a well built trap with metal parts but the design is flawed. Maybe good for small mice but too small an area for rats. The bait tray actually provides a way of escape for the rat when the floor falls out. It gives them something to hold onto before they fall into the bucket. I had to remove the tray and smear the peanut butter in the back corner. This still did not catch anything. I had better results with the cheaper plastic version even though they chewed holes through the back they were still falling into that one. This one has not caught a single rat yet.

The media could not be loaded. It's good quality and I think it would work with smaller mice just not these large rats. I'm thinking because the rats are too big and are able to reach across the trap door while their back feet are secure. I watched at least an hour's worth of videos as three rats successfully cleaned off the trap door of peanut butter while evading getting trapped. a few were flung across the attic, it was entertaining to watch but not effective.

These types of traps are great if set up properly. What we like about this one is that it's made of metal, the instructions and set up were easy. And it has a bait tray at the back of the trap that lures the mice and won't need to be refilled. It fit together perfectly and the ladder is A+ for different height buckets (it'll just be on more or less of an angle which mice don't mind).. This is a solution to your mouse problem.
