Wonderful kettle, MUCH better than the Dualit we had
Like everything about this but for me, a tea lover I have discovered how good Green tea, white tea should actually taste. Coffee is a bit better too at 95C. It really is a classy bit of kit and about £30 less than the Dualit "Classic" which it replaced, it represents far, far better value for money. Regarding this vs the Dualit, 1: This has multiple temperature, your tea will never taste better, and I have drank tea in a tea plantation in Sri Lanka! 2: Its lighter 3: The lid is very safe and easy to use, unlike the Dualit 4: It costs less 5: Well I cannot answer on how long it lasts but the Dualit started playing up at about a year and although they say its servicable, it costs to post it, then for them to look at it, then the repairs. So by that time you have bought a Sage and your life improves. Dont believe me, try trusted reviews which is what I read before I bought it

Sage Small Kettle
Great little small kettle, only takes a litre but boils very quickly and isn't too noisy. Would definitely recommend it.

Very happy after 1 year
We bought this kettle as we moved into our new home 1 year ago. I'd already bought and was impressed with the Sage Barista Express. Since buying the kettle too I went on to buy a Sage blender - this company does a very good job of designing and manufacturing great quality, technically advanced products for a fair price. I was almost put off by some reviews which said the kettle didnt work or that it beeped annoyingly (!!). Yes it beeps, subtly, a couple of times when it reaches temperature. That's how you know the water has reached the set point when you've set a target that's lower than boiling point. Our window cleaner loves green tea (made at 80 degrees) and I always make him a cup when he visits. I can walk away from the kettle and he can still drink it right away when served. Similarly if you do make instant coffee you can set it for that. The base is good and it's easy to replace the kettle in any 360 degree position. The kettle is easy to keep clean. No limescale or corrosion inside after 12 months, though we live in West Yorkshire so it's not a major problem here anyway. All said very impressed and satisfied with the (now three) Sage products we've chosen.

A great looking, dumpy kettle with some disappointments.
I rate this as one of the nicest looking (contemporary) and most promising of electric cordless kettles. It looks great straight out of the box. It sits nice and squat on the worktop, and blends in nicely with the other silver/chrome appliances nearby. The size is intentionally small (and neat) and its volume (4 cups max) is perfect for 90%+ of common uses. It boils a full volume relatively quickly (mostly because of the volume of course) and is somewhat quieter (78dB (ambient 42dB)) compared to my other larger kettle (83dB). So what are the disappointments mentioned in the review title? (1) Taste (at least initially). It noticeably taints the boiled water (horrid plasticky taint), and even more so if the water has been boiled once already - that said, the vast majority of kettles fail here too in my experience. After I had boiled 6-8 kettles of fresh water, the taint was at it's least offensive (or maybe I had gotten used to it?) The taint I suspect comes from the seal between the concealed metal element and the glass body. (2) Next disappointment is that... after boiling and pouring, the glass is condensated up / dropletted - it doesn't drain down or clear, and it no longer looks so 'nice'. And (3) some water remains in the lid/upper ledge and also the spout due to its design; And lastly (4) the filter will be all but pointless except the largest of detritous (i.e. limescale). Given that the last three are minor, and the first issue (taste) is lessening, the questions remain 'do I like it?' (yes) and 'will I keep it?' (yes) and 'could I recommend it - above all other kettles I have seen/tried?' (yes) - and boy, have I tried and rejected a lot of kettles! (FYI - best kettle yet was the Wahl James Martin Glass Chrome Kettle (no longer available) as it didn't taint the water, had great looks etc., but failed all too soon in its life :(

Excellent Product
Updated (Jun-20): Stil very pleased with the kettle. One thing of note is that if you live in a hard water area then you will probably encounter a problem with the lid not always opening in response to pressing the button. This arises from limescale deposits building up around the rim, thereby impeding the lid from lifting. Just need to clean around that rim to remove that limescale. Not an issue any more than having to descale on a regular basis. Purchased this to replace a Russell Hobbs Glass Touch Kettle which we had for a few years and which always had the annoying habit whereby the lid would pop up for no reason (other times it would go though phases of being difficult to open) and had recently started playing up with inability to set a temperature using the touch settings. This Sage / Heston kettle looks great and is well engineered, quiet as well. The fact that you have to press a button to select temperature suggests we won't have the issue with setting the temperature. Overall, very pleased, especially with the Xmas price reduction.

The best kettle i could find.
I wanted the best kettle I could find, and this is what I got, and am very happy with it. The keep warm feature is a nice touch. The buttons are simple and work well. With lights around the buttons for easy clarity of what the kettle is doing. Beeps when kettle boils which is handy. The spout is wider than usual so pours faster when wanted, and the pour is perfect. With see through sections on both sides and top. The top opens slowly.. a little bit slower than i'd prefer, but it's acceptable, and preferable to opening too fast.. I love the chrome finish.. matches my sage coffee machine (awesome) and sage grinder very well.. think i'm going to have to buy their toaster now too! A premium kettle by a premium company.. great job again Sage! Room for improvement: Current temperature reading. Eta to ready Faster lid opening.

You can make 4 cups of team in this, it boils relativley quickly wwith little "over boil" so hopefully its not wasting electricity. Goes well with the rest of my Sage stuff and looks lovely. If you live in a hard water are you might want to give it a miss as I can the scale build up would make it look awful. Just my opinion.

This is a good size even for a family. I think 1 litre is right and 1.7l is just too big. Boils very fast
