This book is exceptional! I set up two of my guitars and this has paid for itself!
This book was/is very easy to follow, and normally a setup costs around $50, so this more than paid for itself! Easy to follow!

Decent book if you are starting off. If you are experienced look elsewhere.
As the headline states, decent book to start off with. Very basic information that you can find anywhere else. Pictures help to a degree and the information is easy to follow. If you are experienced and looking to learn more this is not the book for that but it does help if you need a refresher.

This Book is Filled With Helpful Information
I have electric guitars. I want to experiment with different sounds. I live out in the sticks and it is a long way to town. Between the drive, and the cost of having the luthier at the guitar shop swap out the pickups, or change a worn out 3 position switch, I would have broken guitars in the corner in no time. Get the book, learn how to solder, and practice up on those woodworking skills all while you get those guitars to sound like something you are proud to play.

OK Basic Book on Guitar Maintenance
I was looking for a book to help set up and maintain my growing inventory of guitars. I really liked John Carruthers videos on YouTube so I thought I would try his book. It is surprisingly short on detail - I think that I got just as much information from his free videos. Over 20 pages of the 75 page book are dedicated to the floyd rose system - that I do not have on any of my guitars.I wish that I had tried some of Mr. Carruthers other books that hopefully had more detail.

Easy to understand
This book is very well layed out. Good instructions and the photos and diagrams help immensely. Couple that with John’s videos and you can’t go wrong! Should have every guitar or bass I own playing like a perfect instrument.

Important details easy look up
I like how the book describes the process of setting up a guitar and sometimes gives insights as to why it should be done that wayThere seems to be a lot of information on Floyd Rose tremolo but none on standard tremolo I guess you can skip the parts that don’t apply

no I am not a guitar repair individual. nor will i ever be but when you do need repair work done you can understand what a technician is talking about. Also you can decide what projects you might choose to do yourself

I live and die by this book. Has helped saved my guitars in multiple ways whilst also vastly improving my own knowledge.
This book is truly amazing. I could not recommend it enough for absolutely every single guitar player. Many guitars become less playable over time due to a constant wear and tear. If anyone has bought a second hand guitar too, it may have been bought unplayable and many players are unaware of how to fix basic problems without paying money and sending it off to a repair shop or luthier. For a long time, I didn't like playing one of my guitars as the action was too high and it hurt my fingers to play for more than 5 minutes. John Carruthers saves the day though. I heard about this book from some online YouTube sessions that John has, instructing players on how to fix their guitars in certain way. This book not only instructs you on how to fix these problems, but it provides and insight as to what the problem has occurred from, what is currently happening and how to prevent it in future. The content is written very well, with technical jargon kept to a minimal. Anyone with an understand of their guitar can read this clearly and coherently and not get either lost or confused by any explanations. Bear in mind that basically all repairs are going to need to be executed with special sized allen keys and metric feeler gauges and so forth. Most of these tools if not all can be found on Amazon, or aren't to hard to be found at a local hardware shop. This book has helped me save my guitars and broaden my knowledge and is a must buy for every and all guitar or bass players to keep their instrument in perfect playing shape!!
