KitchenAid K5ADH Coated C-Dough Hook for 5-Qt Bowl-Lift

I had bought a Kitchen Aide stand mixer but it did not have any attachments other than a beater with it. Looking in stores, I would not find a dough hook that would fit this model of mixer. After calling Kitchen Aide, they informed me as to which is the correct hook. I ordered this hook off of Amazon and works great. The coating on the hook is easy to clean and kneads the bread dough very well. I have only used it to make bread but I would think any dough would be well kneaded using this type of hook.

We have a KitchenAid basic model came with nothing but one blade; that was since run through the dishwasher and destroyed. We needed to make some breads for Easter that required heavy mixing and a lot of sitting time. I ordered this dough hook rather apprehensively because it was not stated in it's summary if it would fit my basic machine. Luckily enough, there was another reviewer that had gone through the same exact thing and posted that it would fit our model in their review: THANK YOU! I own the KitchenAid 4.5-quart Bowl-lift Stand Mixer K4SSWH model and I have found that the dough hook does tend to scrape on the bottom. This was remedied by lowering the bowl a tad. As far as the dough hook is concerned, it does what it needs to do. The machine on the other hand which is rated 300 watts, DOES NOT!. The hook kept on getting stuck in the dough after 1.5 minutes. That was all she wrote. The machine could not power through the basic Easter bread dough. Since this was our first attempt with this dough, it was rather surprising because I remember my mother using her KitchenAid from the '80s to do the same exact thing. Unfortunately, the machine could not handle it and we needed to knead the old fashioned way. Recommend this dough hook as a replacement for the K4SSWH bowl-lift model; just not that machine.

It fits the KSM5 correctly, and is a better design than the original (and worn-out) hook that came with it. I'll hand-wash this one, as the previous one wearing out seemed to be aggravated by corrosion in the socket from the dishwasher. This one could have been finished better before coating (mold lines are evident beneath the coating) but that has not been a problem so far. This C-shape does a better job mixing the dough than the old "angular" style hook ever did.

This hook works great for my mixer. I can't believe I waited this long to buy a dough hook! I can give my hands a rest and it makes "bread day" a lot easier to accomplish. I do recommend using recipes that call for no more than 4 loaves. Otherwise you will have dough crawling up past the top of your hook when kneading (at least that has been my experience with my mixer).

This dough hook is the model that KitchenAid customer service told me to get. And sure enough it fits my mixer perfectly. I just learned how to use yeast 2 weeks ago, it's fun, but very tiring to knead the dough by hand. And when doing by hand, my white bread ALWAYS turned into hard french bread. Today I have this dough hook do ALL the mixing and kneading for me, and man it was easy, and the basic sweet bread (from allrecipe website) turned out so soft and yummy! I was so happy that right away I did another batch to make cinnamon rolls for the first time. My kids were so impressed and said this is way better than the store bought ones!

I was given an older kitchenaid commerical stand mixer without a model number on the back. It took a while to find the correct dough hook but kitchenaid customer service pointed me to this model and it works great!

This works great for the tasks of mixing heavy dough. My only complaint is that it is about 1/2 too short for my mixer. There is always a little bit at the bottom of the bowl that does not get mixed. The Kitchen Aid I have was built in the late '50s and it seems that the bowls where a little lower then the current models.
