This kit included everything I needed to learn how to brew my own mead. It was very easy to use. I needed to obtain a large tub to undergo the sanitization process, but all of the equipment was very easy to clean and sanitize afterward. The carboy is made of glass, not plastic, and should be able to be reused many times for many years. Included in the instructions was a link to videos that explained the entire process step by step, so whether your a visual/aural learner, or prefer to read the instructions, your all set with this kit. It also included 4 glass bottles with resealable closures and gaskets to keep the mead in while it ages. I've bottled my first batch and hope to try it out next year when my birthday rolls around, then maybe I'll crack open another bottle around each of the holiday seasons. I'll update the review if it allows me to do so then, with a new video of the aged mead and maybe include a good taste testing session.

It came with a broken airlock, I reached out to the company directly and they were veery helpful. The directions are very easy to follow and they even have a video to follow along with. I have not finished my first batch yet but will update when I do! I finished my first batch, and it came out incredible! It took me a while to update this but it was a very champagne like flavor. Semi dry as advertised. It is a small company and they have videos to help you along the way as well. I have great respect for this company and I am very pleased with their product! Could not recommend highly enough. .

I recently bought a kit and absolutely loved it. The instructions are specific and easy to follow, the parts are all well made, and the overall experience was great! I ordered a second kit and although it arrived with some damaged product, the fine folks at Blu Ox Brewing were quick to getting everything remedied. 10/10

This is my very first kit. I like the carboy, bung and the airlock. The flip-top bottles are not too bad either, although the wire holding the flip top and seal on seems to be a little weak on one bottle. Comes with one packet of yeast, three packets of the yeast nutrients and one packet of sanitizer. I would definitely upgrade to a better siphon pump and funnel. Overall I think it's a decent starter kit. I would have given five stars if the siphon pump had been a fermtech auto siphon.

I wanted to start making mead as a hobby after watching a few youtube casts. i was in the process of pricing out the individual components and i saw this kit. after starting my first batch here is the run down. * 1gl fermenter: good but I think 2gl bucket would be better (15 bucks) * the 4 bottles, i havent tried them yet - not sure how they will be if i use the yeast to carbonate the mead post racking. * syphon, waste of time - i already ordered an auto syphon * funnel and baster, they are fine. * Hydrometer, it seems fine. * yeast, nutrient, sanitizer. im using bread yeast, and used black tea for nutrient, ordered a bigger container of sanitizer. * air-lock, its fine but orderd 5 more so all in all if this was 40 and not 60ish it would be worth it. as it is now, if you want to make more after the initial batch you will be upgrading most of the components. update: I just had the bottle burst that i was trying to make carbonated mead. i was concerned the square shape might not be able to hold pressure - now i know. so doing a retrospective, the only parts of this kit i use is the jug (incidentally I stopped by a thrift shop yesterday and found a 1 gal jug for 4 bucks), the hydrometer, and baster. would not buy again.

Product is as advertised and offers the most complete home brewing kit that I was able to find. I was able to create a great batch of homebrew without purchase of any additional materials (besides honey). One of the glass bottles was damaged during shipping, but by following the recommendations in the packaging I was able to contact them directly and they agreed to replace it with no fuss. Highly recommend!
