Excellent buy!
This is a great fountain pen, which looks, feels and writes way better than you might expect for the price. The brushed titanium body feels tough and smooth and substantial, without being too heavy. I had no issues in holding the pen at the titanium grip section. The Jowo nib wrote smoothly and with optimal ink flow, right out of the box. I have not yet attempted to take out the piston but love that the pen comes with wrench for this purpose. Paired with a well-behaved Waterman ink, it is an ideal pen whether to carry out and about or to keep at home or in an office. The clear ink window means you are unlikely to run out of ink unexpectedly. Seldom have I been more pleased with a pen purchase.

Platinum Piston fill fountain pen
I am very happy with this piston Asvine J16 fountain pen. It has a nice weight to it and looks lovely. I purchased the fine tip, as that is what I prefer. I suffer with arthritis in my hands and had been unable to use the fountain pen I had for years. This pen is comfortable in my hand and I wrote for a few hours with it, with no problems. The ink flowed properly and never stopped once. I used the Parker Quink ink meant for fountain pens, not the ink for the glass nib pens. I am happy that I'm able to get another of the good brands of nibs, to allow me to interchange the size of my writing when I feel like it. I feel I have value for the money I spent for this pen and I look forward to a long time in writing. Customer service have been very helpful with regard additional instructions for filling with the piston. There are also helpful instructions on Youtube.

Lovely nib and smooth writer
I like this pen. Pros: the Jowo nib is very smooth, comfortable to hold and not too heavy, well-made, understated looks Cons: it may be a bit expensive, but I think that it compares well with more expensive pens.

Good but not perfect
This pen is extremely well made. The piston is smooth and the titanium body is of excellent quality. Unfortunately, the Broad Jowo nib is not perfectly tuned. It is scratchy from left to right and will need fixing with micromesh but overall is a decent nib. I’d recommend it.

Very functional, reliable pen for the price
The quality is good, and it's now functioned perfectly for me for several weeks. I find that the balance works well for me, and though it is lighter than many all metal fountain pens, it has a satisfying hefty in my hand. Further, I love JoWo nibs, and so love that this is included as standard. I've tried a change from the medium nib I had included at purchase with a broad nib. Both work beautifully, and so I would also point to the upgrade-ability of this pen.

Another winner from Asvine
This marks my 5th Asvine fountain pen and the first Asvine to come with a Jowo nib. The <F> Jowo is closer to an Asvine branded <EF> nib, which may be a bit too fine for some. If I had the option to redo the order, I'd probably pick the <M> nib instead as I was kind of hoping for something closer to the Asvine <F> line width when I ordered. I've attached an image showing nib size comparisons for each of the Asvines I have on Rhodia Dot 80 gsm paper, it might help someone make a more informed decision as regards the line width you can expect from the <F> nib at least (the only other Jowo <M> I have is a custom grind CSI so wouldn't be relevant for comparison purposes here). Don't think though that I'm complaining about the <F> line width - I'm not. This pen is an absolute joy to use on any of the Hobonichi products that have the 3.7mm graph layout. The J16's Jowo nib is perfectly tuned (and worth mentioning): smooth, wet and consistent flow throughout. I've never had a bad Asvine pen delivered yet and this purchase does not disappoint. Overall, I'm very happy with the purchase and the writing experience with this pen. I read some of the other reviewer's concerns about the pen not handling drops and the like too well. But let's face it, FPs aren't designed to be dropped from ANY height, capped or uncapped. I'm overly careful with my FPs so that's not really an issue for me. Plus, I only ever take really cheap fountain pens outside the house with me - at least this way I know that if I drop or lose a pen, I'll be more upset at losing the ink than the pen should I be so clumsy...

DON'T DROP THIS PEN!
Unfortunately I am only able to give a 1* review as my pen completely sheared in half after it fell from my desk. As you can see from the photos, it sheared at the acrylic window which is the weak spot and a major flaw that could see your pen break in half. Unfortunately the seller only offers to sell you a new barrel which is nearly the cost of the pen. Very disappointing as the pen wrote wonderfully, and I had no other complaints other than that it broke in half the first time it fell on the floor!

Best Chinese pen I've had yet
Wonderful pen. I got the broad nib. It has a very wet nib and is a joy to use. Careful you don't do any damage with the wrench. I had quite a hairy half hour when I went a bit further than my expertise but escaped lightly in the end, Its quite a large pen but not as heavy as you expect as Titanium is quite a light material. This has been the very best of the Chinese pens I've owned and the one I can give the most unequivocal recommendation to. Its a piston filler made of brushed Titanium - which needless to say is a premium material. I wouldn't be surprised if this pen edges up in price over the next few years. Its a lot of pen for £56.

BLUF: The Asvine J16 is a nearly perfect writing instrument, suitable for school work and office life. Discussion: The hand-held writing instrument market is becoming increasingly competitive. Digital devices are more efficient at not only writing and displaying written information, but can distribute that information at the speed of light, literally. So, when you want to write a longer document or research paper, digital is “better”. But for quick notes and reminders, a pen or pencil might be more accessible or practical. Using a fountain pen can be environmentally friendlier than ballpoint and gel roller pens, because there’s no refill to replace after the ink runs out. Yes, some fountain pens rely on “disposable” cartridges, but you could refill them with bottled ink by using a blunt tip ink syringe. The Asvine brand offers several pens that are durable, reliable, and fillable with bottled ink. Some are made from colored or clear plastic, and some with combinations of metals and plastic. The J16 is near the top of Asvine’s assortment. The body, cap and grip section are made from titanium alloys, with a clear plastic ink window and the (presumably) plastic and rubber piston filling mechanism. The finish of the exterior is flawless, machined to leave the surface smooth and free of burrs, grates, and sharp edges. The filling mechanism works smoothly, and can be user maintained (and lubricated as necessary). What makes this pen feel extra special is the #6 JoWo nib and feed assembly. While the majority of Asvine (and other Chinese pen manufacturers) use Chinese-made nib and feed assemblies that write good enough for most people, adding a German-made JoWo nib takes this pen to the next level. Incredibly smooth ink flow and an impeccable polished finish of the nib tip make this pen write and feel like a pen costing hundreds of dollars. As a matter of fact, many pens that do cost hundreds have the same exact nib and feed combination. So, why would you pay more for the same quality and performance? Oh, and because JoWo nibs are easily removable (for cleaning, etc.), you can swap nibs with virtually any other pen that uses JoWo #6 nibs. Recommendation: if you’ve never written with a Chinese pen, the Asvine J16 is the “Gateway Pen” to show you that European and Japanese pen quality doesn’t have to cost European and Japanese prices! Exceptional performance at affordable prices. Try it for yourself; I’m sure you won’t be disappointed. PS: No, I’m not getting paid for this review, but I am keeping it real.

Sin ser ningún experto en plumas estilográficas (acabo de empezar con la afición), me parece un muy buen producto, escribe muy suave y el trazo para mi gusto está muy bien, ni demasiado fino ni demasiado grueso. El envió fue bastante rápido.

If you're looking for a pen that writes beautifully, feels and looks premium, is of great value, then this is it. Just slap a premium logo on this and it will sell for 5x the price. But it's an Asvine and as far as I'm concerned, Asvine is the new premium for those who insist on quality and value. It punches much higher than its weight. Recommend highly.
