Ready for summer!
As soon as the pie irons arrived I unscrewed the handles, melted some coconut oil and started getting them ready for the summer. They are now in a 450 oven with their second coat of oil while I am also refreshing my other cast iron pans. The size is perfect - you want the bread to seal. What I am looking for is a way to shorten the (unscrewed) handles so I can keep them in my Stanley lunch box setup to use as little frying pans or the pie iron they are intended to be. Shorter wood handles, shorter metal handles... If anyone has any ideas. Heavier than aluminum of course, but healthier.

Makes great smores
Bought this for a gift. It's so easy to use and clean. It heats up on a fire or grill which is neat. It can be used for almost anything, simple design makes it easy to use from a burger to vegetables and pies. Heavy so may not be easy for young kids to lift

Cast iron sandwich/S'more cooker
This is ok. It needs to be made in the same size as a piece of bread. Although it is heavy, my 9 year old can use it Just fine. Make sure to spray it with a cooking oil so food doesn't stick.

Fun cooking over the camp fire
Great addition to our camping kit. Plan to pull them out again for a little backyard fire snacking fun. My kids loved them for breakfast sandwiches in the morning and pizza pockets over the fire at night. Looking forward to playing around with more food ideas.

Use lots of butter or oil
This thing is a pain in the butt to use. There are definitely some design modifications I would make. But it does what it says. Use lots of butter or oil to keep sandwich from sticking to this
