I'm not an expert; I'm just an electronics/home improvement hobbyist who was looking for an American-made product with user-replaceable parts that will last. I've only had it a month or so, but it appears to be well-made, works perfectly, costs less than foreign competitors, and is as fun to use as a wire stripper can be. I don't even work in a tangentially related industry, but I use this thing nearly every day and it makes my life easier. Can't ask for much more.

I noticed a fellow at work using this tool and had to have it. This tool doesn't seem to be available in stores (none that I ever seen) but it is invaluable in my profession as an AV installer-better than using a standard wire stripper as this tool grips the wire close to where it is being stripped so that the insulation doesn't stretch and reduce insulating qualities-useful as well for house wiring (personally found it valuable for the time I had a cast on my left hand-I can strip wires single handedly! Super-tech!)

Yes there are lots of much simpler,newer strippers but this one still works the best. It won't 'nick' the wire which is a common ,unnoticed defect with the simpler strippers.That weakens the copper at a critical location. The downside is you need to keep it clean,rust free and lightly lubricated.

After researching wire strippers and reviews online I settled on the Ideal Stripmaster. I tried it right away and after a few attempts I got the hang of it. I did notice that after making the strip if I opened the stripper the wire end crushed. I tried a few more attempts and found that after making the strip if you squeezed again and then slightly released the grips the gripping end of the stripper dropped open and released the wire and the stripped end wasn’t damaged. This is a great tool!

Strips nice and clean; if working with romex wire I would recommend Irwin wire strippers. This wire stripper only strips the individual wire not the jacket of romex.

Excellent quality and price. I have a feeling this is the same tool you get when you buy through Bue Point/Snap-On but at much lower cost. Very happy.

I bought it just in case, because I have another old good IDEAL T-stripper. And I decided to try the new Stripmaster. After the first use for stripping the AWG 18 wire, it immediately broken.
