Astrophysics for Young People in a Hurry Review: Great read! - Fun read for little curious minds! Review: Awesome for grown-ups, too! - I bought this as a real-world supplemental curriculum for middle school homeschool science / language arts. My 12 year old found it a bit dry and over her head, but I, the adult parent, found it fascinating! Physics and chemistry and astronomy have never been interesting to me, but this book is definitely a good read!

Engaging, informative, wonderful resource.
I preordered this book for my 8 year old son who has been fascinated with the universe and the complex wonders it holds for a long while. I was so excited and hopeful that it would be engaging for his young age, but also tackle some of those more advanced topics that he has been interested in. The book has met my expectations! I read this book to my son, and I am learning right along with him. The language is engaging for younger people, with humor and well delivered word pictures throughout. I highly recommend this book, with one caveat: the book goes into great detail on the creation of the universe through the Big Bang, and so if your beliefs lead you to a different understanding of the beginning of the universe you will need to be prepared to discuss this with your child.

Great for the right kid
If your kid is invested in science, this is a great card. My 8 year old has listened many times and continues to come back to it. I don’t always agree with Neil deGrasse Tyson, but there aren’t too many of his “extra” opinions included here; just the science. I imagine most kids realistically won’t have the desire or attention span, though. It’s still Astrophysics.

My 7 yo devoured this book. Turned him into a Niel Degrass Tyson fan.
Niel Degrass Tyson has inspired something in my 7 year old son. It appears to be a love for science and the mysteries of the universe. He devoured this book in several days and has now started reading some of the adult oriented books by Degrass Tyson such as "Death by Black Hole". He is reading them much slower and I am little concerned that "Death by Black Hole" was written for adults but my son is still reading this book and is about 100 pages in. I am surprised he is not getting board with it but more than anything this is a testament to how inspiring Degrass Tyson is as an author and lecturer on science and the fascinating wonders of the universe. I recommend this book to younger children with a remote interest in science and the universe.

Great book for young scientists
Amazing book. Great scientific information written in a very captivating way. Anything that Neil DeGrasse Tyson writes is more than worth it.

Great book for any age
A great book for our 10 yr old grandson. I also look through it and found it interesting for anyone despite their age. He’s really enjoyed it.

Purchased this for my 14 year old grandson but decided to read it first. I feel this book is geared for readers older than 14 as it contains a lot of data that takes time to absorb. It is not a quick read. I reread many parts of the book to clarify what was being discussed. Protons, electrons, pulsars, neutrons, photons, atoms, molecules are all words I knew but needed a context for each. This book is an excellent tool for science in highschool and is written with many examples and much humour. I will be purchasing a few more copies for all my grandchildren and their parents.

Good book, easy language. Could use some more pictures, but it already has a 9 year old excited to learn more.
