What is the temperature range for fruiting?

In Ct. oyster mushrooms show up in the fall (September and October).

It's mid october, and the weather has been 40F to 60F, is it too late to plant these?

I am not an expert - I don't think it is ever too late it may take longer for them to come up.

Ive got a log that's a year or two old and getting soft. Can i use that one?

If it's already getting soft, I'd use a different log. You'll get more mushrooms from it.
