Headline: Great for fitness, but a few things to know
The Beats Powerbeats Pro 2 is a major overhaul of the classic workout earbuds, finally adding Noise Cancelling and a unique heart rate sensor. Since these are high-performance (and high-priced) tech, a good review should touch on the fitness features versus the everyday audio. Here are three review options: Option 1: The "Gym Hero" Review (Focus on Stability & Features) Headline: The king of workout earbuds is back—finally with ANC! Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I’ve been waiting years for a Powerbeats Pro refresh, and the Gen 2 was worth the wait. The secure-fit earhooks are still the best in the business—they do not budge during sprints or heavy lifting. What’s new and great: Active Noise Cancelling: It finally has ANC, and it’s excellent. It successfully drowns out the loud gym music so I can focus on my own playlist. Heart Rate Monitoring: I was skeptical, but it’s a cool bonus. It syncs well with the Nike Run Club app to give me real-time feedback. Battery Life: 10 hours per charge (8 with ANC) is plenty for a full week of workouts without touching the case. Charging: The case is smaller and finally supports USB-C and wireless charging. If you’re an athlete who hates earbuds falling out, these are the best you can buy in 2025. Option 2: The "Balanced & Honest" Review (Focus on Pros vs. Cons) Headline: Great for fitness, but a few things to know Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ These are a massive upgrade over the originals, but they aren’t perfect for everyone. Pros: H2 Chip: Since they use the same chip as AirPods Pro 2, the pairing with iPhone is instant and the "Transparency Mode" sounds incredibly natural. Comfort: They are about 20% lighter than the first version, which makes a big difference for long runs. Sound: Punchy bass that really drives a workout, but the "Adaptive EQ" keeps the vocals clear. Cons: The Case: It’s 33% smaller than the old one, but it’s still much bulkier than an AirPods case. Heart Rate Sync: On Android, you have to manually start the heart rate tracking in the Beats app, whereas it's automatic on iOS. Overall, a solid 4.5/5. Best-in-class fit, though you pay a premium for it.

Best buds yet
I have tested pretty much every pair of flagship buds on the market, from AirPods Pro to the latest Sonys, but after living with the Powerbeats Pro 2 for a full year, I can confidently say nothing else touches them for my lifestyle. If you are like me and need one pair of headphones to handle a grueling leg day, back-to-back Zoom calls, and a commute, these are it. Here is the breakdown of why I would drop the money on these again in a heartbeat. The Gym King: Stability and Comfort The biggest selling point is obviously the ear hook. As someone who is tired of fitness buds falling out during burpees or heavy sets, these are rock solid. • Zero Movement: Once they are on, they do not budge. I have never had to adjust them mid-sprint. • Sweat Resistance: A year of heavy sweat and the occasional rain run, and they still look and perform like they are brand new. • Physical Buttons: I prefer the physical volume rockers and the "b" button. Trying to use touch controls with sweaty hands is a nightmare, so these just work. Work and Connectivity I am a tech enthusiast, so I am picky about mic quality and multi-device switching. • Call Quality: The beam-forming mics are surprisingly good at filtering out office chatter or wind. I use them for most of my work calls and no one ever complains that I sound muffled. • Fast Pairing: Since they play so well with the Apple ecosystem due to the upgraded chip, switching from my iPhone to my Mac for a meeting is seamless. Sound and Battery Life Beats has really moved away from that muddy bass reputation. The sound profile here is punchy but balanced. • The Vibe: The bass is there when you need that extra push for a personal record, but it does not drown out the mids when I am listening to a podcast. • Battery for Days: I honestly forget to charge the case sometimes because the buds themselves last so long. I get through a full workday plus a gym session without even thinking about a low-battery warning. • USB-C at Last: Having one cable for my iPad, MacBook, and headphones makes my tech bag much cleaner. Bottom Line: If mine disappeared tomorrow, I would be at the store buying the exact same pair an hour later. They are the most dependable piece of tech I own.

Great Sound, Great Fit, Zero Ear Wrestling
These pack a punch with clear audio and solid bass without feeling overwhelming. The ear hooks are a game‑changer too. They stay put during workouts, cleaning marathons, and the occasional sprint to catch a kid running out the door. Battery life is another big win. I can get hours of use without needing to recharge. The case is a little bulky but the trade‑off is reliable charging and earbuds that don’t mysteriously fall out of your ears mid‑song. Connection is fast and stable, especially with Apple devices, and the controls are easy to use without poking yourself in the ear like some other earbuds require. These sound amazing, stay put, and don’t make you fight with your own ears!

I recently returned apple ear pods as I found them extremely uncomfortable. I've had the beats headset style for years and love so thought id try the new Pro 2 version as I wanted something smaller for travel. First of all, I cannot say enough about this amazing orange color, it's so nice. They come with 5 tips and the small option fits great so far. I'm not getting discomfort or the feeling that something foreign is in my ear. Sound is what you'd expect from beats- great base. The one thing with beats (both mine are the noise cancelling) I find people around you can hear the music. I also find the buttons much easier to use compared to the apple pods. I would suggesting playing around with the tips for the right fit, you won't get noise cancelling without a good fit, I see some negative reviews on this and is was my initial thought too but then changed the tips and much better. My SO is a tech guy and he is really impressed with the quality. This is my first day with them and I know they were just released. Will update my review after more use. Although they are expensive, so far I'm much happier with these than the apples ones I had purchased and would recommend.

You have to try a range of the silicone tips to get a good fit. Use the Apple Ear Tip Fit Test (go in via Bluetooth and scroll down to find the test) to see which size is best and to make sure the silicone tips are inserted properly. Makes a huge difference! My ears are small and so I tried the earbuds that came with and the two smallest sizes. The sound was tinny and I was about to return them with much disappointment. In desperation, on my treadmill, watching a show with scratchy sound, I put in the large silicone tips and yes, just yes. The sound is very good. The Apple Ear Tip Fit Test verified that this is the best size for me to get a good seal. And as I de-layer during workouts, they stay in my ears! Winter hats are another one where an AirPod will get stuck in my hair or fall on the ground. These are perfect.

I would return these except I waited too long and the return window has closed. The sound is tinny, no bass unless I hold them in my ears. For my ears, I just can’t get a good seal/fit in my ear with any of the tip sizes. And the bad location of the play/pause button on the back of the earpiece stops the music if I try to reset them in my ears. Yes, the ear-loop keeps the buds on my ear but the bad sound quality, fit and button locations make these not useable. I have an old pair of Apple Airpods Pro 2 that worked great for many years until one quit working that had great sound - I should have bought those.

Love these for working out! Had issues with the AirPods Pro 2 falling out of my ears during core workouts on my back and intense boxing rounds on the bag, so the over the ear hooks are awesome for locking things down. Living in the Apple ecosystem - these headphones switch seamlessly between my MacBook, iPad and iPhone depending on what I'm listening on and also work with a PC laptop for work (although I use them less often). These don't move on my head in any activity, and after a few days of getting used to putting them on they're easy to use. I was a little apprehensive or using the for daily use since I wear glasses, but had no issues with them rubbing or sitting in place. The sound quality is great (more balanced than any previous Beats headphones I've used) for streamed music, videos, general content. The only reason these aren't 5 stars are: a) Active Noise Cancellation isn't as strong as the AirPods Pro 2 - when on transit or in loud environments the ANC was a few tiers lower and more of the variable environmental noise makes it through. b) The lack of Adaptive Mode - compared to AirPods Pro 2 (even though they both have the H2 chip) - they do not feature the conversation awareness which was great for lowering the ANC when speaking or being spoken to.

I work in a STUPIDLY NOISY OFFICE, and last year, I decided rather than get mad at all the inconsiderate 🍑🎩’s I would get some good noise cancelling earbuds, I tried all of them! Apple AirPods Pro 2, Beats Fit Pro True Wireless Earbuds, Bose QuietComfort Earbuds, Bose QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds, Sony WF-1000XM5 Wireless Noise Cancelling Headphones. I even tried a few Samsung earbuds…. After alllllll those I settled on Apple AirPod Pro 2, even still the noise cancelling was just ok, but still the best of all of them that I had tried, the sound is really good, and there is a lot good things about them, however…..the fit was not great, no matter what tip I used or any other aftermarket tips I tried, so I thought that well, that’s that… Until I tried these ones!!! The noise cancelling is the absolute best of all earbuds I have ever tried!!! The fit is awesome!!! They will never fall out or get lose, the tactile buttons are awesome, very easy to change from noise cancellation to transparency mode, or change songs, or adjust the volume. It case has wireless charging that makes me very happy!! And the battery life is extremely good… I can listen to them all day for several days before I need to charge them. The purple colour is very pretty as well, which is just a little bonus 🥰. I honestly can’t say enough good things about them…. I know that the bass isn’t as good, but for me the most important thing is the noise cancelling!!
