On the backside of the buckle there's a bottle opener. See customer pictures. You have to undo the belt to use it but it works. Just don't spill your drink down your pants. Otherwise the belt is good. Since the buckle is metal it clangs when it hits the ground.

This is similar to military belts, but it doesn't use the "post" that you adjust on them. Instead, it has little teeth that bite down. This is a better design in my opinion, because there isn't the chance of the post snapping and rendering the buckle useless. I had to trim to fit my 30 waist. I like how it can be reversed to show a light-grey or the black. The pricing was good for this and I felt like I got a good deal. Not sure why amazon asking me to talk about "ratchet mechanism" because there isn't one, it's just a straight forward bite-style clamp.

Adjusting the length is a must. Easy to trim and reattach buckle. Excellent fit. Quality hardware.
