The Lair - The Complete First Season

Yes the acting is bad, it's camp and cheesy but if you want to watch something and not think that much about it then it's great fun.

Totally addictive ! Once those vampires have you under their spell- you'.re hooked ! Over- the -top, kitsch beyond belief but utterly captivating. You don't have to be gay to enjoy it and the straight friends I watch it with are equally enthralled -one of their guilty pleasures ! A supernatural "Crossroads" ? Be brave, take the plunge and enjoy but beware......don't watch it alone !

This programme is absolutely terrible, but still somehow very entertaining. The story and acting are so bad they're actually really good. Pure camp cult classic

If you were hoping for another Dante's Cove you will not be happy with The Lair. If you want escapist entertainment then this is for you. I loved it. Aside from the many very buff guys spending a lot of time wearing very little and doing gratuitous things to each other, this is actually a fairly well written series. There is some wonderful humour (look out for the Deputy in the last episode saying one of the stupidest and funniest lines ever) and there are some lovely plot twists that, I have to admit, caught me out once or twice. This isn't shakespeare, but it is fun and I can't wait for Series 2.

This was promoted as being from the same stabel as Dante's Cove, but in reality it looks more like what was rescued from the cutting room floor of Dante's Cove. With the exception of the "hero", the acting is either OTT or pathetic. The costumes and sets are minimal and repeated often - as is the dancer in the background of "The Lair" nightclub, and he is not worth watching once. And to add insult to injury, the whole thing is only 6 episodes of 30 minutes each, and some of that time is taken up with what happened in the previous episode. If you want camp, kitsch and value for money get Dante's Cove.

The Lair provides no easily digestible fare. First off, the main plot line is fairly straightforward. so far, so good. However, told in 23 minute episodes, of which the first three minutes are wasted by endless repetitions of previous events - as if DVD viewers suffer from amnesia - it gets sidetracked by unimportant events. Neither the background, nor the set of rules of the vampire society inside the lair is sufficiently made clear. People live and die more or less at the director's discretion. The necessity to include the copy of The Picture of Dorian Gray into the story is not plausible so far. The acting is mediocre, the dialogues uninspired. No wit in the vein - sorry for the pun! - of Buffy or dance of the vampires. Most of the mostly nude men sure are eye candy, but as Damian watches we feel his yawn at the always-the same-old-game vision. Most foreplay seems automatic, no passion leaps. Not bad, if you want to go to sleep without regrets.

Good film to watch and will watch any follow up to this Hope to see it soon . enjoyed to watch .

If it did not have vampires and werewolves in it it would not be worth watching

not worthwhile watching. badly written, acted and cheaply made. only die hards would work their way through to the end. I did not.

...selten einen derart unfassbaren blödsinn gesehen - nach drei folgen war für mich das interesse komplett geschwunden - unglaublich blöde handlung trifft auf unglaublich schlechte schauspieler in einem lächerlichen setting.....dantes cove - auch schon ziemlich doof - ist vergleichsweise oscarreif!
