what is best lighting heating for tourtouises in house on a table

I just ordered 2 Evergreen Pet Supplies 100 Watt UVA UVB Mercury Vapor Bulb/Light/Lamp for Reptile and Amphibian Use - Excellent Source of Heat and Light for UV and Basking for each of my Russian tortoises. I understand these all-in-one bulbs are the better choice for tortoises. Hope this helps, Kim

What are the dimensions of the block? I'm curious if it'll fit in my turtle's food dish

3.5"l x 1.25" h x 1.75"w. I have mine set in the substrate. My Russian tortoises haven't touched theirs. Hope this helps. Kim

about how long does it last?

My tortoise would have nothing to do with this. i even shaved off some thinking it might be to big but nothing helped i tossed it away.

Does this help to trim their beaks?

I'm not sure. I purchased this for my hatchling leopard tortoise but he didn't show any interest.
