midiplus BK492+ USB MIDI Keyboard Controller

I ordered the BK492+ and was sent the base model (BK492) by mistake. I returned it and they sent the correct one this time. Since I have tried both, I can say without a doubt that it's worth the extra $20.00 to get the Plus model with the semi-weighted keys! I didn't notice they had sent me the base model (they look almost the same) until I tried the keys out. I couldn't believe how stiff they were. I can't really recommend that one at all, but the Plus model is everything I was expecting. The keys truly are semi-weighted. I did have to manually set the velocity, as there was a huge latency issue, but that is common, I think. All the knobs and sliders seem like decent quality for the price point ($99.99). The user manual is a little confusing, but I was able to figure it out. And I LOVE the USB power cable... no need for a separate MIDI cable. I just plugged it in to the computer and the DAW recognized it immediately! Fewer cables is always a good thing. I can highly recommend the Plus model.

This Midiplus BK492+ midi keyboard is one of those purchases that will surprise you with the quality and function for the price. This keyboard is heavy and solidly made. The plastic is nicely textured with shinny plastic under the sliders, knobs, and buttons giving it a more professional appearance than most inexpensive keyboards. I also own a Samson Graphite 49 and Midiplus Classic 49 and this is the most solid by far. I bought it because my other keyboards were loaned out. I found this with a silly low price of $48. Everything functions as expected with no problems. I set the keyboard velocity curve easily. I use Mixcraft 8 DAW and set the sliders and knobs to controls in the software quickly and easily. I also easily set the transport controls. A for the touch and playability of the keys, they are syth style keys and seem a bit stiff to me but I am not a keyboard player, my instruments are guitars and woodwinds. So to me, it's fine. I don't use the pads so I have no opinion on them.If you need a midi keyboard with basic midi controls and functions, that feels and performs solidly, and at a very affordable price (currently well under $100) this might be the one.

I think I made a mistake purchasing this product, I'm so disappointed especially since I don't usually purchase items that do not have previous customer reviews. The device arrived intact, however after connecting the and following the manual included in yhe package I realized that either; that the mode function outlined in the manual does not work, or the company made a huge mistake in the manual where wording is concerned. For example, to adjust the velocity curve the manual tells you press the "mode button" and then the key assigned to "curve" on the keyboard, when I do that nothing happens. However, fooling around with device I tried the same procedure but used the "select" button instead of the "mode" button and it worked. So, the manual says ti use Mode button but it doesn't work. Secondly, I tried to layer two sounds; a piano and pads, only to find that the piano was in one key while the pad was in another key.I honestly would'nt encourage that anyone buys this midi controller, take it from me, save your money and get one of decent ones out there..P.S. UNHAPPY CUSTOMER #BIG WASTE OF GOOD MONEY
