Works well for raising pH in water
I used it to adjust pH, and it didn’t raise the EC very much more than other products that I use for raising pH the same ingredients

Great product for raising KH and gentle PH.
To adjust the PH in my 700 gallon aquaponics system, I have purchase and used: Potassium Carbonate, Potassium Bicarbonate, Potassium Hydroxide, Calcium Carbonate, and Hydrated Lime. While most of those adjust PH, the calcium carbonate and hydrated lime both messed up the total hardness (GH) and had no affect on the Carbonate hardness (KH). KH is the buffer for acids and decreases over time as it is used by the nitrifying bacteria. Yes, when my plants were looking very bad, and I did not know why, I bought and used a hardness test kit. After finding out how badly I had messed up GH, I did a 50% water change to reduce the GH. This product successfully raises KH while gently raising PH, and does not hurt either the fish or the plants. I am so satisfied that I have ordered, and received a 10 pound bucket. The Calcium carbonate and Hydrated Lime will go onto the lawn or outdoor garden.

... you are starting with pure distilled water this is great for building the kH and setting the pH
If you are starting with pure distilled water this is great for building the kH and setting the pH. Remember to add some Seachem Acid before adding this. It is best to start with acid in the water than add the base. Raising the pH is allot easier than lowering it!!! Plus the kH is increased if you add more acid and then balance with this base. This is great for planted tanks.

Potash for Baking
The packaging is great. The container is excellent. The amount may be way too much for my needs (2#) - using it as a leavening agent for baking German cookies for the holidays. Have not baked yet but will add to this review once I try the potash.

Made some hand sanitizer
I put it in 1.75L of 40% vodka into a glass jar and mixed in the potassium carbonate. This gave me 2 liquids. salt water on the bottom and 95% alcohol on the top. (Both liquids are poisonous) I poured the 95% alcohol out and used a 3A molecular sieve to remove the rest of the water. This caused the last of the potassium carbonate to fall out of solution. At this point I had 100% alcohol. Diluted it with 30% glycerin and a few drops of peppermint oil..... BINGO!! Hand sanitizer Next I boiled out the water in the salt water solution to recover my potassium carbonate. Let's do it again 😁

Custom brewing food.
I use this as one additive for brewing. Yeast needs a variety of food to effectively populate, and stay healthy. I make up a custom batch of yeast food for my high gravity brews, so can save a lot on costs over food sold at the brew shops.
