I first came into contact with this product about 40:years ago . It was used by a company I worked for to clean fine metallic items . Many years later when I was looking for a similar product I remembered Scotch Brite. I purchased o box for my home use ; from removing rust from metal items ( bits of bikes) to cleaning metal pots and pans either dry or in water.. p e r f e c t . Do not use on plated items.
