Lovely stuff!
I highly recommend this. It has the beautiful nose of citrus (fresh mandarin zest, orange, lemon) that you’d expect, with a sweet and velvety texture to support its surprising complexity on the palate (citrus peel, vanilla, hints of tea). One thing I’d clarify, however, is that this is not entirely cognac-based: Only 2% of Napoléon is actually cognac (of undisclosed age or subregional provenance). Can you taste it? If you look for it, yes, but it is very subtle. Whatever its constituents, they work harmoniously in the end: the initial syrupy sweetness is balanced nicely by the very smooth but bracing warmth of the spirited finish at 38% abv. Along with a gentle acidity and bright citrus notes, this prevents the drink from seeming too cloying, in my amateur opinion. I’ve yet to try this with a ball of ice, but I think it would be equally good chilled for those who prefer things cold; likewise it’d be nice as a long drink with tonic (a combo I’ve frequently seen recommended), bitter and sweet complementing one another as they do. I find it somewhat drier than Grand Marnier Rouge or Licor 43, and certainly even more so than, say, Cointreau, sambucas or major coffee liqueurs; but it still tastes a tad sweeter than Grand Marnier Louis Alexandre, Galliano or Benedictine. Ultimately, Napoléon perhaps most resembles Drambuie in overall viscosity and sweetness (roughly speaking!). Give this liqueur a try! I think you’ll be pleased you did so. PS— Don’t swallow this drink too quickly. Instead, enjoy yourself as its character slowly washes over your palate and manifests in a rewarding, warm and citrusy glow. (Thank you for reading my review. I hope it has been somewhat helpful.)

Delicious Mandarin Cognac
My husband's indulgent occasional tipple. Good mandarin flavour without overwhelming the cognac, enhancing it rather than hiding it. Very smooth. Lovely addition to various desserts and jellies.

Uniquely Enjoyable
Rather expensive but a uniquely enjoyable liqueur. Will buy again but probably not until Christmas!!

A drink fit for an Emperor
An absolute must have for your drinks cabinet, best served as a double in a large brandy glass. Intense nose of manderine/citrus fruits, dates, figs and plum. Smooth and warm on the palate, the only downside is it is too good and temptation will lead to "a nightcap" becoming two or three! Despite the reviews of others, do not pour over ice, down as a "shot" or use as an ingredient in a cocktail, this is a standalone drink which needs a brandy glass to breathe and savoured for its unique qualities.

WOW, JUST WOW
My wife is a wine drinker, well a couple of glasses a week. I enjoy the odd brandy, say once evry few months :-). Most wines and alcohol taste like vinegar to me so I very rarely buy any, leave that to my wife. Someone mentioned that this was something different taste wise, so I thought why not, I'll try it once and then it can be for friends. Well we both had a glass with a couple of ice cubes and I can say that friends and family are not goning to get a look in! It's very smooth, slightly thick, and the taste is of oranges, not sweet but not bitter either. As you swallow the bite of the brandy comes in but not unpleasantly. Now I know that Napoleon never tried this (he died in 1821 and this started in 1898) but I have and I shall go one doing so, finally a drink that isn't like vinegar and leave a marvellous aftertaste of oranges as a reminder of how much you enjoyed it :-)
