ProTec WF2 Kaz humidifier Filter

Here's a few tricks to make your filter last longer. Like other readers the water in my area is high in hard mineral content as well as dust since I live in a desert climate. I'm dependent on running the filter 24/7 since I work at home. Without the humidifier my sinuses dry up quickly and become painful. After using the humidifier for a year now I've found that the filter 'dries' up quickly and fails to adequately work after a couple weeks of daily 24/7 use. Dirt, dust and mold also accelerate it's degeneration. Here's how I've addressed these problems: 1. Add a tablespoon of vinegar to the tank each time you fill it up. I use apple cider vinegar but white vinegar works just as well. Combine this with adding the Protec Antimicrobial Cleaning Cartridge to the tank. The vinegar extends the life of the cartridge from 30 days to 6 months. Using both together significantly decreases the build up of mold. 2. On a weekly basis remove the water on the bottom of the filter basin because it fills up quickly with moldy dirty water. Fill the basin with a half inch of clean water and add one teaspoon of vinegar. Scrub the filter basin clean at least twice a month or more if needed. 3. With each tank reservoir fill up reverse the filter so that the water at the bottom of the filter now becomes the top of the filter and it will trickle down moistening the filter. If the filter is dry it will cease to activate the humidifier process. You will know this when seeing the water level remaining the same versus steadily dropping. 4. At the end of two weeks, since I use it daily 24/7, I wash the filter out with warm water. The instructions say you aren't supposed to do this but if you don't you will have a load of dust and dirt on the filter that makes it decompose. I also install the filter so that the opposite of the filter now faces the air induction vents. If you combine these recommendations you should have a sturdy filter that works efficiently and sustains its structural integrity for at least 6 months.

maybe i'm cheap... but i find these filters to be very expensive. my solution to this was to buy the three pack on Amazon.. (hooray!) and cut them in half to fit into the humidifier! so i got 6 filters instead of 3.. go me! that said, the humidifier pumps through more water into the air than with the full filter and it still does it's job. :) i read on many reviews that they mold easy, and they do. but someone else had stated to let the humidifier run dry for a few hours and the mold will not grow, or will grow significantly slower. this works! so, as a recap: i'm thrilled with this filter, i'm cheap and cut them in half, and so long as you run the humidifier for a day or however long you need to after to dry the filter out.. it wont mold!. yes, product recommended and for the price.. buy on Amazon!

I purchased this filter for my Vicks V3100 home humidifier. I regularly performed operational maintenance on my humidifier, including washing the filter. Despite the maintenance the filter slowly became discolored from the natural pollutants and minerals contained in my water. The Protec Extended Life Humidifier Filter helped solve my problem. It is inexpensive and effective only if I carefully care for the filter. To avoid frequently replacing the filter, I use a procedure that can extend the life of the filter. When the filter forms a crust, I soak it for awhile in vinegar water (usually 1 part vinegar to 4 parts water). After soaking I carefully rinse the filter several times in fresh water. Then I treat the water with Kaz KWT-8 Humidifier and Vaporizer Water Treatment. So, after several months, I no longer have a problem with the filter or my humidifier. I recommend this filter

This is the perfect filter for my humidifier. It took a lot of searching to find the right one, at a price that I could live with. The price, even including shipping, is less than buying it locally at Walgreens, where I purchased the humidifier last year. With a new filter, I can rest assured I'm getting properly filtered air, since I am on oxygen 24/7 and require the humidifier. I was impressed with the speed of delivery and will sure buy another filter soon. They have to be changed every 90 days or so. That makes price doubly important. I'm going through these filters like water! (No pun intended ;) Good filters, but wish they lasted longer. I run 3 vicks humidifiers nonstop in the winter months and I don't mess around with changing filters.... I change them out as soon as they look discolored at all! After all, what's the sense in using humidifiers if you don't have clean fresh water coming out of them!!!???? So I spend A LOT of money in these filters yearly!!!

For optimum performance, I replace my filters every 2 months.This genuine ProTec WF2 humidifier filter fits the following Kaz and Vicks Humidifiers: Kaz HealthMist humidifier model 3020, Vicks Natural Cool Mist Humidifier model V3020, Vicks V3100, Vicks V3500, Vicks V3600, Vicks V3800, Vicks V3900 and Vicks V3700 Starry Night Cool Moisture Humidifier. You will have to flatten the ProTec WF2 Wick Filter before using in the Vicks Natural Mist Humidifier. If you observe your original filter you will see that it is round as well.

I wanted to test the product out first before commenting. I am very happy with my purchase and I recommend this product. You get 3 filters for a great price!!! The filter is of good quality. It holds its shape well while being used and it takes a while before discoloration and mildew starts to form. By lasting longer, I can save money -- huge plus. It fits my vicks cool mist humidifer model no. V3500N perfectly.
