Q: Does this darken the show leather in any way? I have several pairs of tan/brown shoes which I would not want darkening.

Not sure only used on black shoes

Q: Would you use this for leather car seats?

No I wouldn’t as this is too oily for car seats. I suggest the Saphir Lotion or Universal Cream which are less oily and developed for larger leather items.
