Cirque du Freak: A Living Nightmare

I've always enjoyed reading this series. It's such a good series and a good take on vampires and definitely different from how some may see vampires, which I definitely don't mind

Read the series completely in Middle School and decided to read again, and I'll probably read multiple times more. Definitely recommend.

I’m glad I assigned this for myself to read again. I remember the series getting better as it progressed. This was just an introductory story to get the reader acclimated to the world of the fictional Darren Shan and the vampire Larten Crepsley (a great character for vampire fans). Slightly darker read than Goosebumps (it contains themes of death after all) but definitely still a great recommendation for an upper middlegrade reader (and big kids like me).

Honestly im a kid writing this, and this might be a the series i continue reading! I loved this so badly! Even tho it was about Vampires it was so spooky yet so lovely! I hope Darren Shan continues this greatt journery of his books!

I'm a big fan of these stories and was happy to finally read this one. If you have read any of his work you must read this and more. The imagination involved in writing these stories is fantastic. A skill I wish I had acquired. I've read so many of the comics and trade paperbacks over the years, some several times. I hope I have the chance to read them all. So many books, so little time. Telling this in the first person makes this one even more interesting. Give it a read and try his other works as well. You won't be disappointed.

I originally bought this book for my brother who doesn't read very often in the hopes of spurring his inner bookworm. He loves the books and has gotten emotionally attached to each of the characters and their story lines, even being brought to tears on quite a few occasions. While I may be off toiling at college, I still found myself enthralled by Darren Shan's world of "Cirque Du Freak" and joining in on the tears and thrills. My entire family has picked up these books and fallen in love with Darren and company (an experience not shared since a certain author who graces the cover of each book in Shan's series wrote a book about a boy who lived). If you are a parent who is hoping to inspire your child to read, this book is for you. Just remember not to be afraid to pick up the book and see what this phenomenal 12 part series has in store. I'll miss Darren Shan and all who are found within this story that I'll always wish was true.

I love reading this to my micropremie baby, it has a lot of life lessons! Highly recommended but you may want to leave out some of the more graphic parts.

Bought as a gift for a 11 year old boy. He loves the series and has asked for the rest of them

Darren Shan ist ein ganz normaler Junge. Er mag Fußball, seine Freunde, Comics, Horrorfilme und Spinnen. Als eine Freakshow in seine Stadt kommt änder sich jedoch sein Leben schlagartig. Das Buch gehört zu einem meiner absoluten Lieblingen. Es ist der Auftakt einer aufregenden Reihe. Ich bin von dem Buch genauso begeistert, wie ich vor ca 10 Jahren war, als ich das Buch das erste Mal gelesen habe. Der Story wird aus der Sicht von Darren Shan erzählt, fast wie ein Tagebuch. In diesem Teil erfährt man mehr über Darren als über die anderen Charaktere, aber der Leser erhält einen Einblick in beide Welten. Die Welt der Freaks und Darrens Menschenleben.

I don't wanna write reviews all the time, besides...I read this book before, when I was younger......so I definitely know that it's a great one.
