Does the job and is fairly priced.
I have long, thick hair which is the bane of the household. I love my hair so am looking for ways to keep on top of the upkeep of the house that goes along with the constant hair shedding that is more apparent when you have long hair. So, I ordered this, however was a bit skeptical given a few other reviews (however I’m not sure what some folk were expecting exactly).Firstly, if you have a drain which has the strainer type cover sitting directly under where the plug sits, then this will not work. It has to slide down into the drain hole itself, so you need to see how far down the gap is as any cross bars etc is going to prevent this being inserted correctly. I’ve seen pictures on here of folks plug holes that clearly this was never going to fit into as there isn’t a gap. That isn’t the fault of the product or the design - that’s people not understanding how the product works and buying something incompatible for their plug hole.Secondly - this is for catching hair whilst not restricting the water drainage. It’s not going to stop the bath emptying. It has holes in it - it is not a plug. If you want a bath then you’d need to remove it and use a plug. Unless you wash your hair in the bath water however, really you shouldn’t need this for a bath. It’s for draining the water whilst catching hair. You either want a plug or you use this. You can’t use both at the same time. So, first impressions. The packaging is neat & small. Kudos to the manufacturers for not wasting cardboard. The product is small, so why make the box big? And for those who commented that the item is small - Hell, it’s got to be - it’s fitting into a drain hole which is 3.75cm diameter. I’m not sure quite what you expected, but the product is ideally sized to fit & not be obtrusive when it situ.Next thing - it’s plastic. Again, this was commented on by someone. Yes - plastic. It won’t rust that way as it’s in a damp environment and in contact with water. It also won’t scratch the bath etc. It’s plastic which is coloured to look like metal, however to look at it you wouldn’t know.Ok, so the fitting - straight out of the box it’s ready to go. Open box, take of clear protective seal off the top & put it in the drain. Done.So how did it stand up in use? Well, as I said before, I have hair which is a pain when it comes to drains. Despite my best efforts to empty it all, it was never enough. As became apparent when we took the trap off the under side of the bath & retrieved what looked like a drowned cat out of it. Don’t want this happening again, so have been trying to find a good alternative to those other traps that sit over the top of the drain. Whilst they are ok for short hair, my hair clogs it and prevents the bath draining. I have to keep coming back every 15 mins to get the next lump off hair out to enable it to drain some more and catch more hair. Not ideal as it takes hours to empty. Also easy to knock off the plug hole without realising. So - having had my hair tied up for 2 days, I would notice more hair in the shower than if it had been down and brushed prior to washing. Good way to test it.Washed my hair as usual & by stage 4, the rinsing of conditioner, the water was still draining well.Rather than leaving it for a few washes (like you could get away with if you had shorter hair), I figured I’d empty it after each use.I was happy to find a considerable amount of hair around the trap and no signs any of it made it past into the actual drain.I considered taking a picture of said trap with the hair ball, but figured the world isn’t perhaps ready for that sight as it’s one of those things we all cringe at - even when it’s our own.So - how did it fair? Given I get 2 spare rings with this, which will extend its life span to probably a few years, I’m very happy with it. It looks neat & tidy, fits in nicely, looking like it actually is a permanent fixture which came with the bath. Given the price is very reasonable & not over priced, I’d be happy to buy another one in a few years when this one eventually needs replacing due to needing new rings. Let’s face it, £7 for a product which should last a few years is a good bargain if it saves money on drain blockers which are also harmful to the environment (and some damage the plastic of the plug hole due to the corrosive nature).Good item - would recommend for anyone with hair that clogs drains.UPDATE: 5 months on and this product is still looking good and still doing the job. It hasn’t tarnished (can’t vouch for how well it holds up against bleach as my bathroom cleaner is mostly bleach free) despite being sprayed with cleaners and still looks good and hasn’t developed that dull look I expected due to contact with conditioners. The rubber is still firm and shows no sign of rotting and it’s catching huge amounts of hair each time one of us washes our hair (I’ve noticed it’s catching the shorter hair of my partner as well as mine).IF YOU FOUND MY REVIEW HELPFUL please hit the button below. Surprisingly effective, aesthetically OK
Viewing the online pictures then receiving the product, I really wasn’t sure this product would do any good. It just seemed... unlikely to collect anything.Living in a house with a wife who has long, curly hair that seemingly falls out by the handful and my insistence of using creamy bars of soap, we have been going through drain unblocker by that bottle full weekly. Add in a high pressure, high flow shower and we had constant foot baths. This product seems to not only allow for the high rate of water to drain quickly but does indeed catch at least some of the clogging debris.I obviously can’t comment on what it lets past, but we have now went a number of weeks without the use of a drain unblocker.Aesthetically, as it’s made of cheap-feeling plastic, it just about passes as metal. It also stands standing out of the plug which looks odd. So, it’s not perfect. If it was made of metal this would be a perfect, 5 star product. As it is, functionally it is impressive.

Invaluable little gadget
This gadget does exactly what it says on the tin! It works better than any hair catchers I have tried in the past. There us a circular rubber bit at the base of the perforated metal cylinder which fits snugly into the drain so that no stray hairs can escape around the edges. After use it lifts out of the plughole easily and cleanly and the hairs can be simply removed from the rubber bit. My husband will love that he will no longer need to tackle the outside drain which frequently became blocked with a huge hairballs together the other detritus which always became attached. It has a smart chrome cap which covers the plug hole, and also has several replacement rubber bits.

As Described and Works Well
This shower trap works really well. It fit in my shower and I can have it slightly lifted out of the hole or pressed flush. It collects the hairs at the bottom in the rubber ring but because of it's neck, the water it still able to freely flow even once it starts to fill up with hair. And it looks pretty good too - I didn't think it would as I used to have a round shower trap that fitted perfectly into the hole (as it came with the shower tray) but this looks great as well and I wouldn't know that it wasn't the original shower trap provided with the tray. I would deffo recommend this product and buy it again if I need another one. Very happy!

Does the job
Does the job but somewhat restricts the water flowing as well. But hey no more blockages. Have used for a few months now and its seems fine. Made of chrome plastic with two rubber seals.

CAUTION! Check your bath fitting!
I have seen hair catchers like these made from silicone type materials but was drawn to this one by the shine. It is a lightweight plastic, chrome colour coating, and not solid metal. I could not see any difference in the black fittings supplied. The instructions say to unscrew the holey plate in the plughole and drop the unit in the hole. (When just placed in the plughole it does filter the water through and separate some hair, but not any better than the existing fitting.) Unfortunately, my bath, and possibly yours too, connects the bath itself to the drainage maze beneath it. If I had followed the instructions I would have emptied the shower through the kitchen ceiling.Unit might be OK with wet rooms, or shower cubicles, but useless for me.I gave the one star rating as a minimum, for the shine.

Good design and functionality.
Only had this a few days but seems excellent. Catches all hairs. Looks good in the drain. Had tried one of those silicon sucker ones; Just didn’t work in the shower and looked awful. This is well designed, sits within the plug hole, replacing the original stopper. Does not stop the water flowing away but catches all hairs when showering. It is easy to lift out and clean, which I have had to do several times already as it is so effective at blocking hairs. If we want to use the bath, we swap it out for the original plug.
