Grass grew
It looks terrible for a while - like wet paper towels on the lawn. But the grass absolutely grew and it covered the entire area I put the material. The instructions are very easy. Installation is very easy. It did exactly what it is supposed to do.

Don’t waste the time, money or effort on this
I prepped the ground well. I tilled it to loosen the dirt. I mixed in a few bags of soil. I put some seed and fertilizer down. Then I covered in grass clippings from the rest of the yard. Finally I put the grass fabric down. I kept it wet/damp for the first couple of weeks. Sometimes watering that area a few times a day. The first time I sprayed it, the fabric did blow around a bit so it didn’t look as nice as when I initially laid it but I figured the grass would fill in. 4 weeks later, the areas between the fabric are growing in more and better than the areas covered in this fabric. Save your money, get dirt, fertilizer and seed. I will probably put a layer of top soiled down and more seed. The issue is, it takes weeks to see results, so you don’t know if it’s worth keeping or returning until after the return window closes. I’ll save you the guess work…it doesn’t grow.

It works and it is super easy!
I did this with my 7, 4, and 2 year old, We added 3 bags of top soil to the area. No tilling just spreading the soil evenly. Our soil is hard clay so I didn't want to risk it (I live in Los Angeles, CA). I just rolled out the mat. Covered the edges with soil. Watered it. I watered 3 times a day the first 2 weeks. Twice two weeks after and once after that. I started on October 15th and that whole week was super cloudy in LA so I don't know if that delayed things but I didn't really see any germination until almost the second week. But after the there was growth everyday. I only gave it 4 stars because it's not a lush full lawn in 4 weeks as they advertised but it's pretty darn close to it and it was super easy. It's way cheaper than sod but pricier than seed. I've had bad experiences with seed. A lot of weeds grow along with it. This had 0 weeds. The few weeds that came out were what I already had. So definitely worth it. I will be buying more to do the rest. This was a test run and couldn't be happier. By the way my kids loved the project so include the little ones. They'll love seeing the growing process.

Expensive for the amount of land it covers
I laid down at least 12 100ft rolls over the past two weeks. One section grass has started to grow, although it is very very thin strands and not thick lush strands as it shows on the pictures. It is way more expensive that seed. It is fairly easy to lay down, but every time you get a section down on the ground the wind blows it away before you can soak it with the hose, so constantly having to weigh down with rocks before I can. soak it. As soon as it is wet it breaks down very quickly so if it folds over wet good luck getting it separate. Time will tell on the second section. It looks awful when wet and soaking and breaking down, but I think it will get better at some point. it looks like a green splattered mess on the ground! Hopefully the strands get thicker as if it stays that thin, it would not be good value for money. I completely cultivated all the earth before laying down the growtrax, so it was perfect conditions, weeded and ready to go. I am covering about a 500 sq ft area, so a lot of ground to cover. I am also seeding the other area so I can see in 4-5 weeks whether this product did better than regular grass seed and I will post again final results.

Not helpful in regrowing grass
Easy to roll out and water. I had high hopes for it. I ended up throwing it in the garbage. After watering it becomes fragile and tears in the wind. Tried to weigh it down with rocks. I ended up with torn pieces all over my lawn from the wind tearing it apart. Lasted 2 days.

Not worth the money And low quality
Like the idea but it needs more thought. This product is incredibly thin tears easily and when she get wet it basically turns to toilet paper. We installed on a day with no wind and what the product as directed. The first lightly windy day came along and completely shredded this green toilet paper and blew it into our neighbors yard into the street all over the place. We bought a similar product from Home Depot that did not have the seed included in the product But you lay seed first and then the cover over and it held up fine. It was only this product that was affected by the wind in our front yard. The stuff we purchased from the local hardware store held up with no issues the grass is still coming through and it looks great. This stuff is the wrong color when he goes in your yard so it does not look correct it is super thin and cheap and much harder to install without ripping tearing etc.
