Short to medium grain rice, shorter than jasmine rice, not as fragrant; it sticks together better and is good for chopsticks, but not super sticky and doesn’t bleed starch like sushi rices. This is a great dinner rice, pairs well with a wide variety of foods and sauces. This is one of my favorite all around rices. This is factory packed in a plastic bag, sealed well with no leaks. The rice is pearl-white and clean, not at all dusty. Price is good for five pounds of rice; I was pleased to find this here on Amazon, my local supermarkets do not even carry Calrose rice.

Wow, this rice is the bomb. Such good flavor and texture - so dense and chewy but not hard or gummy. Just perfect!!! Plus, the quality of this brand is top drawer. I tried the 365 brand and there was no comparison! Whenever you make some, be sure to make a big batch so you'll have leftovers. It makes the BEST fried rice. Please note, the water-to-rice ratio for cooking this type of rice is much lower than other types of white rice, so be sure to follow the cooking instructions! At first I thought "that's way too little water!" but it works.

This was really good rice back in the day when I could afford it. More than doubled in price in the past 2 years.

This is my favorite rice although I don't get to buy it very often because I can't afford to. It is very spendy and the price could come down a little bit better. Value for the money I wouldn't agree with it being on point it has a nice sticky consistency but not as sticky as sticky rice of course. It smells fresh in the bag before cooked it also smells fresh and great after you have cooked it. Very clean no bugs no dirt no yucky of any sort that I've seen. It was sealed well.

Medium-grain rice is what you usually get in Japanese, Chinese, and Korean restaurants. Botan-brand rice is grown in California to USA quality standards. Botan is one of the cheaper brands that you will find at Asian-American grocery stores. Quality, flavor, texture is good for the price and it is fine for family meals. The cooked rice is fluffy and moderately sticky, so is easy to eat with chopsticks. 5 pounds does not last long if you eat rice regularly. Quality and flavor is essentially the same as the Nishiki-brand rice that Amazon also sells. We buy whichever one is cheaper.

If you didn't purchase this for sushi but instead as an all-around rice (as I did) be warned that this rice is starchy and needs to be rinsed over and over until the water runs clear. This is not a particularly fast process and even with heavy rinsing this rice has a gummy consistency that isn't very pleasant. It will, however, do in a pinch when it's difficult to find any rice at all during the pandemic. The price is certainly more than reasonable. Cooking it with low sodium chicken or vegetable stock helps. It turns out fine in my rice cooker. Adding some steamed vegetables to it seems to break up the gummy consistency a bit. Will I continue to buy this when rice becomes more readily available? Probably not. Am I glad I'm able to procure it now? Sure. It's not my favorite but it's certainly edible.

This is one of my all time favorite rices! Very high quality at a decent price. I use it as a side if I’m craving sticky white rice and it’s sooo delicious!
