Excellent Quality - A Complete Solution
I have been a ham radio operator for over 40 years so I am very familiar with various RF connectors and their attachment to cable. Soldering the center pin is relatively easy to do but soldering the shield requires care because the heat required can melt the insulation on the cable if you are not careful. This is a quality tool meant to crimp the cable shield only. The only PL 259 connectors that I have ever seen that have a crimpable center connector have been on cheap Radio Shack cables and are prone to loosining up or corrosion. Believe me, you WANT to solder the center connector and it is not difficult to do even with a low power soldering iron. Other connectors such as BNC do not require soldering at all. This is a quality well-made tool designed to crimp the cable shield only. You can easily pay $40 or more for the crimper alone. The connectors supplied with this kit are easily worth $10 by themselves. The carrying case is just a very convenient addition to this kit. If you want to simplify the installation of RF connectors you really can’t beat this kit. Buy it, learn how to use it, and you will be very happy.

Buy It for the Crimper, Not the Stripper
This product is advertised as working with RG-174, the thin flexible cable found on inexpensive mag mount antennas, and it worked - mostly. Here's what came in the kit: Crimper - the crimper looks and feels heavy, solid, and well-made. The included hex die has plenty of options: .043, .068, .100, .137, .213, and .265. There is also a small, flat crimp section on the end. To open, squeeze the handles completely shut and it will spring open. It worked very well on the RG-174 crimp sleeves. It should also handle larger, crimpable center pins, but the ones for RG-174 connectors will need to be soldered. The die are replaceable, and appear to have a standard form factor. Stripper - a two-bladed stripper that should trim both the outer jacket and the center dielectric in one pass. It has a die that can be removed, rotated and reinserted, and is designed to accommodate four different cable diameters. Unfortunately, the slot for RG-174 was too deep, and the blades would not engage the cable. Attempts at blade adjustment did not help. A plier-style crimper/stripper that I already had for working with automotive wiring worked well enough, but this included unit should have worked properly. Also, in attempting to adjust a blade, the nutsert backed out of the plastic body of the stripper, and I had to super glue it back in. Might be OK for larger cable. Snips - a small pair of sharp, pointed, spring-loaded snips that worked well for trimming the strands of shielding. Screw driver - a "standard" size of interesting design. The single, 1/4" hexagonal shaft has a fairly blunt Phillips head on one end, and straight blade on the other. It is held in place in the handle by a spring-loaded retention collar. Pressing down on the collar allows the shaft to be moved in or out, or reversed to use the other end. The range of adjustment is from about 3" to 4.5", locking into place on notches spaced about 3/16" apart. There is also a socket let into the side of the handle that will accommodate the end of the shaft, providing an offset T handle for extra leverage. An intriguing design, but the shaft rattles in the handle, so it's unknown whether the driver will hold up to heavy use. Connectors - five PL-259 (the center pins will need soldering) and five male BNC (the center pins may be crimpable, but I'd recommend soldering) that appear to be OK. The product listing should specify the cable size(s). A customer service contact card with email address and a promise of 10-hour response time (slightly longer on weekends). It all came in a zip-up case with internal elastic straps to organize and hold the components of the kit. The case is about 10.5" long x 5.5" wide x 1.75" thick. There should be room in the case for some heat shrink tubing and extra connectors (all supplied by the user - not included in the kit). Bottom line: nice crimpers and snips that worked well and were worth the money spent on the kit. I'm glad that I bought them, and think that they will serve me well. It will be interesting to see how the screw driver holds up. The stripper was a disappointment, at least for the small cable. Based on some complaints in these reviews, plan on doing some soldering if you're installing/replacing cable connectors. An inexpensive, low power soldering iron and a small roll of 60/40 rosin (not acid - that's for plumbing) core solder is all that's needed. A very small craft vice, or a set of "helping hand" clamps, would also come in handy, as would tweezers or forceps.

Great little kit
I needed to make a coax cable for a mobil radio installation in my pickup. Needed a crimping tool so I bought this kit. Crimper works very well, very solidly built. Wasn't missing any keeper C-clips holding the pivot pins in place like other reviewers complained of. The stripping tool was a joy to use, doing a much better job than my box cutter. And the kit comes with 10 PL-259 connectors so I'm set for future projects! Be aware there are no instructions, but anyone smart enough to be in ham radio should be able to figure it out. I would recommend this.
