TExES English Language Arts and Reading 7-12 (231) Flashcard Study System: TExES Test Practice Questions & Review for the Texas Examinations of Educator Standards (Cards)

This exam has been very difficult to study for, because most of the materials are limited and generally not very helpful (it's been even worse in this case because this specific exam is so new). I was getting frustrated because all of the diagnostic tests and literature about the tests are categorized into Domains, Competencies, etc., but the study materials are not. This was the only item I saw for the 231, so I bought it to try because I was tired of trying to understand the free prep materials.Here are a few things I've experienced so far:(1) There is no book included: It's just sheets of flashcards that you have to tear apart yourself (I should've read the description better, because I assumed the "system" included a book, not just cards.) There aren't really instructions or tips or anything.(2) The organization of the cards is confusing. The categories don't really align with the ones used to describe test content on the TExES website, so it's hard to know what you're studying exactly and why. Actually, one of the categories, "Language and Linguistics," only had ONE card. There are hundreds of cards, but that particular category has-- literally-- ONE CARD.(3) The writing is often confusing and riddled with errors. It's hard to study seriously for an English exam when the cards are full of comma-splices!So, overall, I wouldn't make the purchase over again. I thought if nothing else this would give me a direction to pursue while studying and make me feel at least a little more confident in my preparation and ability to pass the exam, but it's just been more confusing and irritating than anything.

I love how the cards were perforated, it made getting them all out together and didn't come with a wasteful box that they they could have come in. The cards were succinct, followed the study guide and were extremely helpful for those who like repetition in their learning repertoire. I've used Mometrix before and passed all of my Teacher Cert. Classes that I was taking a test for. I highly recommend them!

The flashcard study system is a great way to study when you have a bit of time. The cards are easy to carry and will provide you with a chance to internalize the material on the go. It is a perfect companion to any other study materials you may have.

This was a complete waste of money. I bought this because I was in a panic and didn't feel prepared for the ELAR exam. There is WAY TOO MUCH information on these cards! You might as well purchase a book, and/or make your own notecards. And, these flashcards were not cheap! You might as well spend a few dollars on going to the store to buy notecards or index cards and spend the time and effort to create flashcards that you'll actually understand. I looked at these cards once, and then promptly put them away.

I really enjoy the Flashcard Study System. It is a convenient way to study when you are on the go. An entire book can sometimes seem overwhelming, so it really helps to have a simpler, more straight-forward method to solidify comprehension of every topic that needs to be covered.

I like how the flashcards are very comprehensive. They give lots of examples to help me understand the material. I think thee flashcards provide a great opportunity for me to test my knowledge in reading and language arts.

I really like the flash system; information is concise and easy to remember.

This is not helpful for the exam. It is NOTHING like the actual exam. You're better off trying something else.
