This mat is PERFECT! It's beautiful, well-crafted with high-quality material and it's extremely durable (I'm a very large, heavy woman with a large, heavy-duty chair and it handles all that weight all day & night without issue!). My chair rolls across it smoothly and it protects the hardwood floor beneath it very nicely. It came well-packed in a large, durable, FLAT box - that alone is worth the price - no frustration like you have with trying to flatten and get out the wrinkles of other mats that arrive rolled up! It is very heavy so be prepared for that, but that's also a plus because unlike other mats it stays put. They also give you some flat, round, rubber (I think?) discs that you can use to adhere the mat to a non-carpeted surface, however, I did not need them as mine stays put on the hardwood floor. You also get a 5-year warranty - you just cannot go wrong with purchasing this mat! Save yourself the cost and frustration you get with other mats and buy this one, you will not be disappointed!

Perfect. I was so tired of fighting the plastic chair pad. This is beautiful, thick, strong - perfect. No more having the wheels dig down in the plastic and the mat sliding.

Great quality and value. Heavy 1/4" thick tempered glass. Chair rolls so much easier. I wish I had found this product years ago after wearing through multiple plastic mats that move around and created wear on my antique oriental carpet.

I have gone through a dozen chair mats over the years, and this is the BEST CHAIR MAT EVER! Of course I started with the cheapest vinyl chair mats which only last a few months before starting to dent. Then I graduated to the "heavy duty, long hours sitting at a desk" chair mats, which were significantly more expensive, and lasted a bit longer than the cheaper ones. I sit at my desk about 8 hours a day, working on a computer. My office has a low profile carpet with padding underneath. I get up from my desk to go to the printer, the mailbox, the warehouse, etc., so I am up and down, rolling my chair back and forth from the desk - ALL DAY LONG. My last vinyl chair mat cost about $50, lasted more than a year, but then developed a big crack where the front chair wheel had more pressure from me leaning forward to see my computer monitor. I used duct tape to hold the crack together. Then kept adding more and more duct tape, extending the chair mat life a couple more months. I never knew that tempered glass chair mats even existed! This is my "find of the year"! A total game changer. I no longer sink into the carpet (which would curl up the edges of the vinyl chair mats - a stubbed toe hazard!), I don't get stuck in the cracks or dents or duct taped holes. My chair glides so effortlessly on this beautiful glass chair mat. My posture is better since my chair is not sinking into the mat or rug. I am sitting more ergonomically correct, with my eye level at the right position to the monitor. I absolutely love this chair mat and hope that it lasts a really long time. When I get up from my desk, my dog rushes to lay on the cool glass which chills her tummy. I placed the mat in many different positions, and found that for me, this rectangle-shaped mat works best in the "vertical position" vs the "horizontal position". Don't put the long edge of the mat parallel with the long edge of the desk, because when you roll away from your desk, you will probably roll right off the edge of the glass. Instead, place the mat vertically and tuck about 12" of the shorter side of the glass under the front of the desk, and the remaining glass goes under your chair and still has space to roll your chair back without falling off the glass. I think it is best to try to never roll off the edge of the glass to prevent any damage to the glass edge. The edge is nicely rounded and smooth, not at all a hazard if you have children, pets or bare feet. This item came very well packaged, with absolutely no damage to the carton or contents. It is a bit heavy and bulky, so beware and maybe enlist a helper! It comes with 4 stick-on pads in case you want to lift the chair mat off of the floor a bit. I am on carpet, so I am not using the pads. I highly recommend this glass chair mat.

muy bueno para proteger tu piso en el área de trabajo, el tamaño es idóneo. El que sea de cristal templado permite que la silla se desplace muy bien y que la limpieza sea fácil. Funciona muy bien en un escritorio, pero en una mesa que tiene una pata central este diseño cuadrado no funciona del todo bien, seria recomendable que hubiese algún diseño con espacio central para este tipo de mesas

I know - you're sitting there reading these reviews about the glass chair mat & wondering how it could ever stand up to any sort of abuse. I was skeptical too. Like many others, I was done with the garbage plastic mats that all seem to break down over time. Not to mention they are never totally flat on top of a carpet. The solution? Yes - a glass chair mat! Many of you will be amazed & happy with this purchase. I'll be perfectly honest - I'm a fat old dude using this on top of a plush carpet. It's solid. While I don't recommend it, I have accidentally dropped large & heavy metal objects on the glass mat. It survived, and didn't chip. However, you have to be very careful & understand glass. Glass isn't perfect - all glass has micro-fractures. It's possible I've begun to compromise my glass chair mat, and one day it could shatter. I'm not going to blame this on the mat - it was my own carelessness for dropping stuff on it. So far, it has taken some abuse, as well as general wear & tear. I'm very pleased with it, and will purchase another if this one ever breaks. My only gripe - being smooth glass, it has a tendency to creep over time on top of the soft carpet. I have to pull it back every few weeks to the desired position. Lorell's solution comes at a fraction of the cost of other manufacturers & appears just as durable. At the time of my purchase many months ago, there was only one option for the size. It was perfect for my use, but know that Lorell does make several sizes of glass mats. Search for Lorell on the internet & have a peek at their website for more details. I have noticed the cost has increased since the time I purchased this mat (selling on Amazon now for $149 Canadian), but I would still buy it at the increased price. I feel it is that good & is money well-spent. One last point worth mentioning - once you put your favourite chair on the glass mat, you won't be accustomed to the lack of resistance. Take great care when moving about in your wheeled throne - it's far too easy at first to slam yourself into your desk. Full disclosure - my chair has the standard plastic wheels and they roll & function just fine. There's really no need to upgrade your wheels. I would imagine a chair with upgraded wheels would glide better & more smoothly - it's hard to imagine as the difference between riding on a glass mat versus a plastic mat is night & day. I'm very happy with the product. Had I known it existed, I would have tried one years ago.

Love this matt the glass is resistant. I leave it shiny when cleaning it with the mirror cleaner.

My old plastic mat was cracking (yet again). To be fair it's lasted nearly a decade, which is longer than most. I noticed Glass chairmats were something new, and read a bunch of reviews and information. We have our mats on carpet, and plastic mats with an office chair... don't last long. I had to double mine up in the past to get the rigidity necessary to not poke holes in it. Enter the glass mat. It's sturdy, solid, and super smooth. So smooth my chair rolls right off the edge if I stand up too quickly! So far it's been great and works far better than my 2 layers of plastic mats in the past. I did have a concern about my chair rolling off the edge, and possibly damaging the edges. Bought some edging material to wrap the edge, and my chair no longer rolls off, and the edges are protected. For the price of 1.5 plastic mats, this thing is a steal. It should last longer than my chair (assuming no one drops something solid and heavy on it!)

Tempered glass chair mat is a more permanent alternative to acrylic plastic which wears quickly. More expensive but worth it.
