These coffee beans are an absolute delight from the moment you open the bag. The aroma is warm and inviting, hinting at the rich flavors inside. Both bags were stamped with a roasted-on date about 5 days prior to their arrival. So, about as long as it took to roast, bag, box and ship it to my door. I don't think it could be any fresher than that without visiting a roastery in person. I do want to note that my order shipped directly from CC and not from desertcart, which is not the case with all variates offered on the desertcart. Just something to keep in mind for freshness. Also, the coffee variety used in the blend is also stamped on the bags. I do want to preference this by saying that the roast on both of these is likely lighter than a lot of people are going to be used to if they do not already drink specialty coffee. Of the two "Big Trouble" is my favorite, by a lot too. That surprised me because I tend to prefer darker roasts. I would say this roast, in my experience, is on the lighter side of medium. In a v60 it makes a well-rounded cup that is balanced between body and acid. So, it tastes modern with a hint of nostalgia. This is the cup of coffee I wish I could get served in every local diner. It could easily become my daily driver, so to speak. These flavors remain the same in the Aeropress but are slightly muted. As for "Fourty-Six" it is a bit different. Smokey and fuller in taste, which I like, but there is slight floral aftertaste which isn't my preference. Don't get me wrong, it is a good cup of coffee, but it misses the mark for me personally. I'd definitely recommend it to others who like that sort of taste. While listed as a dark roast I'd say it is on the side of medium-dark. It has the characteristics of a dark roast in flavor, though. For reference I use a Timemore C2 as my grinder and a V60 using the 4:6 method for my daily cup. I find that I like 18 clicks. I'd say this is closer to medium than a medium-fine grind. Anyway, I'll be trying more varieties.

The best coffee
The flavor of this coffee is not bitter. It is smooth and not too strong.

Enjoy these beans, but review includes a qualification
Great coffee, but... when I purchase from Counter Culture direct I get freshly ground beans. Ordering through other sources can mean a bit longer between roast and delivery. I'm becoming more picky. So I'll check before an order to find the info from the source. If the source is an Amazon warehouse, I'm not sure that is even possible to find out. I think a purchase depends on your expectations. With all my aging coffee concerns, this is light roast. And light roast will age slower than darker. And much much longer than decaf roast will hold up. FYI.

Always Check Beans Before Using in an Espresso Machine
Even though we enjoy the flavor and overall quality of this brand, we did encounter one serious issue. In one of the bags, there was a small stone mixed in with the beans. We didn’t notice it when pouring the beans into our espresso machine, and when we started brewing, the machine jammed immediately. During the repair, the technician confirmed that the stone was the cause of the damage. The repair cost us 600 dollars. Amazon refunded the purchase, which I appreciate, and the company itself handled the case professionally. Because of that, and because the coffee truly tastes excellent, I’m still giving 4 stars. But this experience made me more cautious, and I strongly recommend that other customers quickly inspect the beans before adding them to their grinder or espresso machine. Despite that incident, the coffee remains one of the best-tasting and most aromatic options we’ve tried, and we will continue buying it with extra care.

This is my family's favorite coffee for making espresso drinks at home! We keep branching out and trying other brands but come right back to this one 😍

Acidic sour taste
Very acidic, tastes awful. No matter how I try to prepare it it always comes out tasting sour and bad.
