If you are like me and can't find the right filters for the Megahome home distiller, this is the one you want. Bought some from another vendor and they were repelling the water... and the water tasted like crap. THESE work great. The package even says it's for home distillers (I'll take a few pics when I get a chance). They are individually wrapped. I use 2 at a time. They arrived today (fast shipping even though it wasn't Prime) and I have already made a gallon to test them...and NO bad smell or taste! I will be ordering here whenever I need more.

I am using in place of original charcoal filters that came with my water distiller. These are a bit smaller than the original but when carefully folded into the chamber, the filter fills the space and it works great. I suggest soaking the filter in water for at least a few hours or overnight before using it to keep any charcoal bits and funky taste out of the finished water. I distill water 1-2 times per day and haven't had to change the first of these new filters yet. All in all a great price for the product.

Seems a bit of a tight fit when folded double in the Megahome unit - haven't tried squeezing in two pouches as suggested in paperwork. I think it does help with flavor of the distilled water and have used a filter from the very first gallon. I kind of wish the spout assembly on the Megahome was larger to allow for the filter pack to lay flat (then could use two for sure) but the design has been used for many years so doubt that will change any time soon. I did miss the comment in the instructions to rise the filter in distilled water before placing in the holder. I rinsed under the faucet so first 3 or 4 gallons run through the Megahome had higher than usual 0-1ppm tds. Once the filter had been flushed out by the distilled water all the tds readings have been 0 since. When I replace the filter I'll remember to use distilled water to rinse the new filter.

I’m used to other brands’ charcoal packs being almost too big to fit in the nozzle of my distiller so this one might just seem comparatively small. They seem to do the job, though.

I have been consistently using this distiller for eleven months now and have absolutely no complaints. This is my first distiller and I hope never to be without one again. I chose this model based on reading many reviews. I find cleaning the unit to be extremely easy. After my normal every-other-day use, I add about 1/8 cup white vinegar to the bottom, swish around once and let it sit for a few minutes. A quick wipe all around the interior followed by a light rinse with tap water and the unit is ready to go again. The reviews concerning fairly loud fan noise are correct; however, I consider it a minor issue since I can run it at night or operate it in a room removed from my hearing. Although I have had no problems of any kind, I will consider getting a timer in order to prolong the lifespan. The unit has already paid for itself and has saved me a great deal of energy carting purchased bottled water from the store.

Jeez, what can you say about charcoal filters? These are the perfect charcoal filters made from the finest charcoal the world has to offer. Wrapped in the highest quality filter paper available in this hemisphere, they are a joy to use in your water distiller and make the finest tasting water you have ever had the pleasure to drink.

I recall reading that it's not absolutely necessary to use them. Because of this, we stopped using them and have experienced no adverse side-effects or any noticeable difference in the taste of our water. Some companies are claiming the filters are necessary to protect from harmful toxins and enhance the water flavor. Everyone is advised to do their own research as this may simply be a ploy to sell the filters. Otherwise, we were satisfied with the filters but stopped using. It's easy to see how some people may prefer to pay the added expense. For this reason, I give the filters a 5-star rating and because I believe it was this company that was honest enough to admit the filters are not absolutely necessary.
