Different in a good way
Before purchasing the CD, I read several reviews and was prepared to be disappointed. It sounded like Lecrae's music had gone downhill, and it sounded like he had left the gospel core.I will certainly agree that "Gravity" sounds different. It is more produced than most of his other songs. One of the first things I also noticed was that I couldn't understand the lyrics nearly as well as I could in most of his other songs on previous albums. I love Lecrae's sound, but his lyrics are what draw me in the most. That being said, his new sound is different, but I don't see that as a bad thing. It's very professionally done and adds some spice to my Lecrae playlist. I love how Lecrae is so eclectic, and this fits that pattern very well.As far as leaving the gospel message, this couldn't be farther from the truth. So many of his songs on this album deal with depravity and the need for grace. So he may not explicityl name Jesus every other word, but the gospel is preached, and you DEFINITELY get the conclusion of Jesus. But Lecrae does a great job setting up one's need for him in this album. Christ's name is meaningless if there's no realization of need for him alone.I want to add one other comment to this last part. I just went to see Lecrae and others last night, and I can assure you he has not left the gospel message. He and the other artists proclaimed the gospel message all night long, and Lecrae ended the concert with a twenty minute gospel message. The quality of his music in terms of sound has gone up, and his message has remained as strong as ever, though it may be a little more nuanced now.

The best in the business
Right now...everyone knows it. Lecrae is the best in the business. He's not just the best Christian Hip Hop, or Holy Hip Hop (whatever you want to call it) rapper...he's really the best lyriccist out there today. As always, he brought it on this one. If I compare this CD to any other artist's CD out there, I'll always listen to Lecrae first.BUT - if I compare this CD to any of Lecrae's other CDs...straight up honest now...I will put this one down, and pick up one of his other CDs. Don't get me wrong, Gravity is pretty good...but it is NO WHERE near the quality, NO WHERE near the shock value and impact that he brought with Rehab, Overdose, Rebel, and honestly his free CD Church Clothes was better than Gravity.Funny thing though, even Lecrae's worst CD is still good enough to get four stars. It's worth a purchase, so check it out, you will find a couple favs on here...but if you don't have it already, check out Lecrae's free underground/mixtape CD - Church Clothes.

Almost his best
I say almost his best because I bought it for me at my level, I say that to say this this album was missing something to me, I never listened to it before I bought it. That's because I knew it would be good as normal. But there was something I just couldn't put my finger on, the first review I read on here hit it right between the eyes. The theology that his songs are usally wrapped in was missing, not totally but in a light blanket, not as heavy as normally is all. I agree this maybe the way we get Lecrae in the ear's of more main stream listeners, unchurched listeners. If that is the aim great we should support the effort, to God be the glory for his efforts. It is Still a good Album!!

Not as good as I have come to expect from Lecrae
Lecrae no doubt is still very talented, has a great heart to serve the Lord, and can rhyme with the best of them. There are some good tracks on this album no doubt, however I skip most of the first half of the album which is definately out of the ordinary for a Lecrae CD as every other one I own each and every song is amazing. I originally figured they would grow on me and to some sense they have but not like most of his albums where you want to put them on constant replay. Also wish I would have instead purchased the album from Itunes because you don't get all the extra songs from the Deluxe version which wasn't available on Amazon at the time of purchase.

Not what I expected but still pretty good
The beats and lyrical style on this album would be something people who listen to rap in the club and radio could be familiar to, yet it is steered towards spreading God's message. It seems like Lecrae is talking about the personal issues in his life and how Jesus is leading him and teaching him how to deal with it (In the middle of a storm). Very down to earth and relatable. I have previous albums and they seem to be from the perspective of already going through situations and advising people what not to do through an established plan. I'm sure still that this album will grow on me like the others. Need that spiritual nourishment!

Read an interview about this young man which intrigued me. I grew up on rap and suffice it to say......it's not what it used to be. Plus I have kids who are being sucked into the matrix as far as rap goes and I want to present to them another option. I love the production on this cd. Great cd. Great messages on the cd. Going to get all of his cds

and even more amazing its about God
What an album. Sheds a whole new light on gospel music. Lyrics are just outstanding and soundtracks are heavy you cant sit still, and even more amazing its about God, hallelujah! I would happily play this CD anywhere because it is so fresh and inviting, anyone who hears will want to know more.

I chose this rating as it fully gave what I wanted to hear, Christian hip hop music performed by a top artist. I recommend this for those who are into Christian rap / hip hop.

More Quality from Lecrae
Already a big fan and this album does not disappoint. Good tunes and quality production as usual. This guy should be sooooo much bigger than he is in the UK !
