It's nice that it comes with the cartridges
I just received this printer today. I'm leaving on a trip next week (which is why I bought it) and set it up this weekend. Setup was really straightforward. I'm using a MacBook Pro (OSX 10.10.4). Setup was really straightforward. In the box, the printer comes with both a black cartridge and a color cartridge (plus a "maintenance box", which is about the same size as an ink cartridge, and I'm guessing is similar to a drum kit, etc). It's nice that it comes with the cartridges, but no idea how many pages you get out of these freebie cartridges. I bought an additional 2 black and 1 color. I installed the software by inserting the CD/DVD that came with it, which sent me to an Epson webpage to download OSX drivers. Installed fine. Test page printed fine. You flip up the top lid to load paper. And in fact, I'm quite pleased with how fast this little printer prints. The quality is great (for an inkjet printing on plain paper). I'm guessing the ppm (pages per minute) would be like 10-12 per minute for color. I haven't tested just black&white, but it might be a little faster. The unit is really small and portable. I'm not sure how tough it is for banging around in a checked bag on an airplane. The instructions suggest taking it as a carry-on. There's an LCD screen, which surprised me. The resolution is good. Overall, I'm pleased with this little thing and look forward to using it. It's charging right now with the included AC adapter. The instructions say it take a couple hours to get a full charge. It also comes with a USB cable to connect directly to a computer for charging. Furthermore, this printer can print wirelessly (e.g., from your iPhone). I don't intend to use that function, but it's nice to know it can do it.

Best Little Printer EVER
I use my printer Daily as most of my work is online. We are also full time RV dwellers, so space is a premium. This little printer is AWESOME!!! It has it's quirks, like any printer...so I waited 3 months to leave a review. The end result, it is a little work horse. I get more pages per ink cartridge than I ever have with other printers, it prints beautifully, and is Perfect for Tiny Homes and RVers. I did get a 6 ft USB cord, because I don't do wifi, but that is personal preference. The cons...you do need to man the paper as it only holds 25'ish sheets, and it makes a soft high pitched whistle after printing. After 3 months of daily use those are the only cons I can think of. If this one eventually dies, I would seriously get another, it is that good. ***2023 UPDATE - So...5 1/2 years later...This has been a little workhorse! It's been my sole printer all this time, and I print quite a bit. It's still chugging along, working fairly well. I think if I either sent it in for a proper cleaning, or I take it apart and clean it myself, it will probably last another 5-6 years easily. It's like the little engine that could :) I don't think I can praise it enough! That said, the ink has gotten overly expensive and need replacing too often at my print volume. We no longer live in an RV and I have more space, so my next printer will be an Epson eco tank...then I'll clean this one and store it as a backup :) I paid 179.00 for it, and thought that was expensive. I'm shocked at the price increase. I don't believe I would buy one at the current price, especially since the ink is so expensive. As trusty rusty as it is, this 450.00 price is too high.

Road Warrior Certified
I love this printer. Now I can call myself a true "road warrior" - also paired it with the very slim and portable Epson DS-30 scanner. Printer is fairly lightweight and will fit in a medium to large laptop bag, with the scanner and an ultrabook. Probably would have a harder time fitting it into a small laptop bag, but you could still probably do it, but barely. I use this bad boy to print and sign sales contracts from the road so my sales team can close deals and I can be anywhere in the world and not hold up the countersignatures. MUCH MUCH more reliable and convenient than using hotel printers/workstations which don't seem to work half the time, and most of which don't have scanners. The print quality is OK, it's nothing to write home about. This isn't really designed to be a photo printer. Some of the colors are pretty washed out, but who cares. Quality is fine. Also the wireless capability is AMAZING and the fact it can work off battery without being plugged in is a GREAT feature. There is one other smaller printer I was looking at, but it has a collapsible printer cartridge track which requires setup each time. This one is just slightly thicker and gets the job done. One last thing - TSA likes to 'bomb test' these printers. Learned the hard way. It's considered a 'large electronic item' so make sure to take it out of your bag and in its own tray. Be warned, if you pack it in a suitcase and send it through the X-ray machine, they'll stop you and test the bag.

Right now I got as far as inputting my long wifi password
Not easy because you have to scroll through lots of characters. Inserting FIFTH UPDATE here: Wasn't going to bother updating, but now I can't get the printer to work at all, no matter how many times I reboot. I'd give it zero stars if I could. What a waste of plastic. Original review: Posting only about set up process right now. Because I haven't been able to get the wifi connected yet. It is not intuitive. The first issue I had was downloading the driver package for the Epson site. Downloaded apparentlu ok, but installation failed each time I tried. Tried downloading again same thing. Finally downloaded driver and updater separately. That worked. Selecting the correct wi-fi option from the printer screen was trial and error. Right now I got as far as inputting my long wifi password (not easy because you have to scroll through lots of characters each time to select the letter of number in your password). The screen read "Setting up..." before I logged on to type this review and still does. Not promising. I'll update this if I ever get the wifi working. UPDATE: I eventually decided the set up process was frozen and tried to turn it off. And I couldn't turn it off. Tried holding down power button, no luck. Finally had to search online to find out how to do a shut down when it won't shutdown. Took a deep breath, re-entered the very long password and finally success. I'm leaving my 3 stars for now. Still have to install drivers on another laptop. I'll see how that goes. Tomorrow. SECOND UPDATE: I've been using the printer for a little while now and have several comments- Print speed is good Print quality average Ink usage-black cartridge didn't last very long My mac usually does not find the printer via wifi unless I restart the printer after each time mac is closed THIRD UPDATE: Now my mac only finds the printer after I restart, reopen, restart, all different combinations that don't seem consistent, so I can't set up a standard procedure to follow. Also, I'm in agreement with other reviewer regarding ink nozzles clogging if the printer isn't used every day. As a result of these things, I'm changing my rating to 2 stars. And I may end up buying a different printer. Disappointing. FOURTH UPDATE: Just did a software update yesterday. Hard to believe, but the situation with my laptop recognizing the printer is even worse. Plus, after this short time, I've got a message that the maintenance box will need replacement soon. I'll be moving in a month and think I'll just buy a regular printer when I get situated. I feel like I paid several hundred dollars for a piece of junk.

**SEE UPDATE!** Epson WF-100 Is a Powerhouse Packed Into Small Package - Just ONE WARNING (Read About Maintenance Box!!!)
UPDATE: 3/27/2017 Well well well - wouldn't you know. I still have this printer. It's still running well, sort of. I now notice when I don't print anything for 15-20 days, and I start printing again, the nozzles become clogged and require a cleaning. I actually had to perform 3 cleanings in a row to get the printer to pass the nozzle check. The nozzle check is a utility built into this printer to verify that all print nozzles on the machine are spraying correctly. You get a grid of each color on a piece of paper to verify that it's printing correctly. 3 cleanings later, and tons of ink used, the printheads are printing again. Please bear in mind that I am using GENUINE Epson Ink tanks in this machine. This can be costly. Other than this annoying thing and the fact that the maintenance box requires replacement every so often, this is not the most economically engineered machine. However, it's form factor and ability to print from its internal built in battery still makes it a favorable travel companion when printing reports and the like. UPDATE! 9/5/2015: So, you're probably wondering, how is my printer REALLY doing all this time. Well, let me tell you. It's nice and it's a conversation starter everywhere I go. HOWEVER, in terms of cost of ownership - I have to knock a star off of this device. Why? The print heads clog WAY too easily for both black and color - especially if you don't use it for about a week or two. Now, I take this printer with me nearly everywhere within reason. I have a makeshift carry bag and I take this along with my Microsoft Surface. It's a great combination, but it's annoying when you really need to print something, and then you notice your prints do not come out correctly. I have to clean the print heads on this printer about once every 3 weeks or so. Especially if I do not use it for about 7-10 days, I have to run a cleaning. This also consumes a bit of ink AND runs down my maintenance box, too. I have NEVER exposed the printer to temperatures above 85 degrees F. In fact, underneath the printer there is a striker that specifically tells you not to operate or expose the printer to temperatures UNDER 41 degrees or over 104 F! Okay, a quick call to Epson technical support was useless. I was told somewhere along the lines that "printhead cleanings are considered part of regular maintenance and usage of the printer." Considering that a color and black tank runs you nearly forty bucks, this is annoying when you only get about 50-70 page yield with 5% coverage and NO cleanings. Ha! Aside from this annoying feat, I still like the printer, but no longer "LOVE" it. My prior portable HP printer was a little bulkier but never had this flaw. Okay - you're thinking, "Well, this must be only YOURS, right?" Well - I even hit up somebody that I know that has one of these, too. They're going through the same exact thing. I'm not sure if this is intentional or not, but I think it's important that you fellow Amazon shoppers know that the heads clogging are something that appear to be common. Especially if you're trying to control yours costs on mobile printing, I think you should know this. Sure - it's saved me numerous trips to a nearby print shop and also saved me many headaches from "fighting" for a computer / printer at the college print lab, but man! This thing is thirsty! I have now learned to carry EXTRA set of inks ahead of time and an extra maintenance box in my bag in case. Btw: these maintenance boxes are about seven smackers a piece, and as of today - NOBODY except Epson direct will sell it to you. So, if you want to pay shipping on that as well, you're lucky. Or - you wait for a free shipping on ink offer and they'll usually ship it free with your ink purchase. Oh, and I've blown thru 2 maintenance boxes since owning this printer in May (4 months!) - yeah. Figured I'd warn you. --------------- So, you're probably thinking, "Hmm, what makes this printer so special?" I was wondering the exact same thing. I'm a very mobile user, I work full time and go to school at night and also sell products on the side in my spare time, so I'm never "home" to print what I need to print. One wouldn't think you need a printer until you've got one - like this Epson WF-100! I've used Canon and HP before for mobile printing and although they were all "good" - the Epson WF-100 really, really stands out and here's why. I wanted something truly portable and mobile - which means I'm not always near a power outlet. Before, I've purchased the rechargeable batteries for my Canon or HP printer - it adds some bulk and it's an extra accessory to carry. This Epson stands out, because the lithium ion rechargeable battery is BUILT INTO the printer itself - saving space and utility all in one. The printer is so portable, I was able to stick it in my laptop bag. I have a 17" Amazon Basics notebook bag, my 13" MacBook Air inside it and the printer, with about 50 sheets of printing paper, my USB cable and some spare ink cartridges for this printer and not to mention still extra room for a notebook, pens, chargers, etc. This printer is very very quiet. In fact - when running on battery power on this printer - it appears to go into "conservation" mode and prints a little slower, but quieter. Now, if you're printing like 50 sheets at once, on battery power, it's no speed demon but for a few pages, speed is acceptable. When plugged into AC power - it's pretty zippy! You get about 40 - 50 sheets of color or 70ish pages of black and white on a full charge in my experience. Another thing I really like about this printer is that if you don't have your Epson wall charger w/ you - it can and WILL charge from MicroUSB! It comes with a small MicroUSB cord in the box, but if you have a MicroUSB cellular charger, or Car Charger - it WILL charge (ONLY WHEN TURNED OFF). So, you can always find ways to keep this puppy charged up. Another thing I like, is that to my knowledge, unlike another mobile printer - this printer has access to online printing cloud service like Google CloudPrint, Apple AirPrint and EpsonConnect (available when connected to WiFi). For me, this is huge. If you want to print from your iPhone or iPad and you're on the WiFi network along w/ your Apple device, they see each other. If you use GoogleCloud Print, it's available to receive print jobs from there. If you like Epson's "EpsonConnect" cloud print service where you e-mail print jobs to it, it will do it! Just remember, this application would require the printer to be connected to WiFi and you're more likely to have the printer in a stationary setting at this point. Still useful though, in my opinion. You also get WiFi "Direct" but I did not test that functionality out. A competing printer allows for Bluetooth connectivity, but who uses that anymore? Many laptops don't even have Bluetooth available. The printer ink tanks look small - and they are! But don't let that deceive you. So far, I've printers nearly 35 pages the first day of use (initial ink tanks) and barely placed a dent in the cartridge. During printer initialization, the printer will take some ink out but the rest left is available for printing, so I'm sure a "full" cartridge may yield even more prints. I can't comment on estimated page yield because I haven't run it down just yet - but so far, I'm pleasantly surprised. One thing about this printer I think you need to know is that this printer, along with many other "Epson WorkForce" Series printers, this machine also uses a "Maintenance Box" or "Maintenance Tank" inside - which MUST be replaced every so often. This is a good and bad thing. The good thing, the printer will use this consumable to store wasted ink for things like head cleanings, borderless prints, and more. Also, the printer used about half of the maintenance tank (there's an ink level + maintenance tank life meter on the screen) during the initialization process. This did seem alarming to me, but a call to Epson support suggested this is ONLY for the 1st time printer is in initialization. The representative couldn't advise me how many ink cartridges or other factors to determine estimate maintenance tank life would be. The BAD part is - if the tank "runs out of life" and you don't have a spare on hand- the printer WILL refuse to operate. It will demand that you replace the ink maintenance tank before continuing. Don't think you can just "empty" it and replace it back into the printer. There's a smart chip on the maintenance tank underneath the printer that tells the printer it's scarred for life once it's estimated life has been depleted. Fortunately, Epson has included a 2nd maintenance box in the package. Replacements as of today's date are three bucks shy of ten on Epson's website but they are backordered - so beware! The printer can handle envelopes (#10, I've tried and it's neat!) and photo paper as well as legal paper, too. Do not let the printer's size fool you! This little sucker can do a lot. The printer, when running on battery power, will automatically shut itself off after so many minutes of inactivity, which I appreciate because you could forget to turn it off. When you shut the lid on the printer while it's on, it will enter sleep mode until you open the lid. This printer cannot do automatic double sided printing. I do worry that one day this machine could have a clogged head, because previous Epson's I've owned were plagued with this in some fashion - but I bought an extended warranty thru SquareTrade, so I am comfortable for at least 3 years with peace of mind in case it does fail. All in all - this printer is wonderful. I can print reports and last minute papers at school without having to run to the "print center" or "library" to print and hope the computers / printers there aren't "Down" --- because now I have my own! It's so portable and the utility of this printer should not be overlooked. I do, however, wish this printer had a scanner head because if I could scan w/ this - I'd truly be in heaven at this point! Way to go, Epson. You have a serious, deadly competitor to the other mobile printers on the market in my opinion.

WF-100 vs Canon Pixma mobile
I used to own the Canon Pixma mobile printer, which was really good even though the bluetooth connection was tenuous. I wavered between that printer and this one, confident that either choice would be good. This is the smallest printer in the world (that prints full size paper including legal). the body of it is (about) the body of it is about the same size as the Canon, but the Canon requires an external battery that fits on the back adding about 2" and weight, AND you have to buy it separately. The WF-100 has a built in battery, and therefore comes with the initial cost. The only thing that made me waver was that CR stated that the printing quality of the Canon mobile was better. I don't know how it could be. The print quality is better than my standard HP printer. I had read that set up was tricky--it wasn't. While I usually just take things out of the box and try it without downloading software (and it might have worked); because I am a new Mac user, I wanted it to be without glitches. The setup guide was very easy, and within 5 minutes I was printing. Please know though that this is a printer intended for mobile use. While it certainly is high enough quality for regular use, it is slower (Not bad) and the cost per page is higher that regular printers. That being said, you could take it on a business trip--or pleasure trip if you need to print, or if you just want to amaze people with how cool you are! and be assured of presenting clients or whomever with high quality printing, or out in the field it would be amazing as well.

Great Printer !
Great Printer ! This printer was the most easy mobile printer i ever had to set up. I have the HP mobile 150, and Cannon Mobile printer, but the Epson is the lightest, smallest, and easy to use printer i have ever owned. Uses WIFI network printing for internet printing and Direct Print if you do not have a network to connect to. Internal battery, and can charge with power cord or USB from my Surface Book. Works with Google Print also. This is not a photo quality printer and the color photo quality is pretty good for a mobile printer, but i did notice printer lines on the photo when on battery power. It does print slower on battery power vs power cord which is to be expected. Love the size and weight of only 3.5 pounds. It gets the printing job done for me. . for whats its worth, I would purchase another one. You won't be disappointed with this mobile printer.

Great Printer when it works...but most of the time, operation is hit or miss.
Pros: I like the fact that it is portable and can run on batteries or AC power. The print quality is good. It has a small footprint. Cons: It takes a while to boot up. Sometimes, it takes a while for my devices to connect to it. Sometimes they won't connect at all. If you let it sit for a few days without using, it seems the print heads gets clogged. You will then need to clean the print heads. Ink is relatively expensive and seem to go quickly since they are so low capacity. And don't forget about the maintenance box. It seems out the blue you will need to replace it or else the printer will not print at all.

Totally reliable and light
I absolutely love this printer. We have two at work that I travel with often and it’s so tough For its size! It’s been to three countries with me. Easy, light, awesome to use. I bought a third one for my home use because it’s so user friendly.

INCREIBLE 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
¡¡¡¡Increible!!!!
