Fantastic Hiking Boots.
Let me start out by saying that while I am not much of an avid hiker, these are by far my favorite shoes. I wear them multiple days a week just because they're so comfortable and I like the look. They do tend to run small. I normally wear a men's size 8.5 and when I received those and tried them on, I immediately sent them back and ordered a half-size larger. Those size 9s fit perfectly. These shoes/boots are durable. I've had them now for about 4 years and they STILL look great. The soles have good traction and they do repel water pretty well. I haven't hiked down the middle of a stream, but I have stepped through them and my feet stayed dry. For rainy days, they work great. Arch support is good as well. I have high arches and often have to swap out the insole to something with more support. Not so with these. Overall, these are great boots. When you consider the price for what you get, they are fantastic. I really have no idea why I waited so long to review them, but here you go. I own the mid-height and am just now purchasing another pair in the low-height. Highly recommended.

Really comfortable shoe
I have tried other hiking boots/shoes and I am always happy with Merrell. I buy others for price benefits, but you get what you pay for. These shoes feel great immediately; as if they were specifically made for me. I have a wider foot and flat footed as well. While the support with the shoe would most likely be sufficient for my flat feet, I still buy my own insoles. Habit. Foot comfort is key regardless the task. I walk 2-4 miles a day with my dog. I can wear boots out quickly. These Merrells hold their own, though. I can almost get a year out of a pair. The shoe itself is still in great shape usually, but the soles wear according to my gait and that is the reason for getting a new pair. I like the above ankle shoe/boot. It offers enough ankle support still without being a boot. It has great traction. Difficult to walk in new ones due to such great traction and width of sole, but that’s probably because I get used to walking in my worn out ones.🤷🏻♂️ Warm enough for Michigan Winters. The waterproofing is great, too. Spring in Michigan can be extremely wet. 2-4 miles walking in wet grass or puddles, it is nice to have dry feet at the end (well, during as well). I think I may be finished shopping around. I’ve had Raichle, Red Wing, Keen, Field and Stream, and Salomon to name a few. All of those were good as well, but either discontinued a style or changed manufacturing which changed the product. I’ll just stick with these Merrells as long as they maintain their quality. You may benefit from doing what I’m doing and just sticking with what works (for me), which is Merrell.

Comfort Far Above My Expectations!
After 3 full days of wearing boots, working on concrete and lots of ladder work, the comfort of these boots are way above my expectations! Must write this review and share. First I did not buy for hiking use however for a hiker a definite must. I have bad feet and after several orthopedic type shoes and custom inserts, I could not stay on my feet longer than 3-4 and that was stretching it. My feet would swell and sometimes I couldn't even wear a shoe the following day. After seeing a good foot doctor, she recommended I purchase a wide hiking shoe (I normally where medium) which would give my toes more spread room. Also, she suggested the hiking boots have less bend (flexibility) in toe area which would not allow toes to bend much which was causing alot of my issues. And of course a good arch support. After a couple more months of pain I finally starting researching for "best hiking boots" and Merrell MOAB which I pulled the plug and ordered. When boots arrived I could not believe the total weight, both boots and packaging weighed less than one of my other boots! Due to weather in St Louis area I ordered the water proof type to keep feet warmer. Anyway, these are the first boots (including orthopedic shoes) I have been able to keep on my feet over 4 hours. Had em on almost 10 hours today and even walked my dog (Labrador) for a mile! Also, as I read in many other reviews, did not have to break in. 3 full days now and going strong. Will update as time goes on. As for now, highly recommend! UPDATE: Wrapping up my second week wearing my Merrell boots. Boots are high above expectations! My neighbor noticed me moving around much better and longer. What a difference a good fitting, comfortable boot makes! Neighbor went to local store and bought a pair the next morning! Also, we had snow earlier this week, feet stayed dry!

Fits to size. Boots are very comfortable but heavier than what I normally wear

Another great Merrell product for a long, wet hike
I am a woman with big feet. Women's boots do not fit me well. I have been a fan of Merrell Moab Ventilators for more than a decade - I currently have a pair of mid-highs and low tops, which serve me well. I buy them in a men's size which comfortably fit my feet. I am not a fan of waterproof boots! I can't imagine walking miles and miles with moist feet. My Ventilators get wet but dry very fast so have never been a problem in wet, muddy weather. I had a long walk ahead of me - the Camino de Santiago de Campostelle in Spain but I feared that my good ol' Ventilators might not last the hundreds of miles. When these boots came on sale, I decided to give them a try. They were Merrells, which gave me confidence. They were a different color from my Ventilators so I would be able to tell these waterproofs from my other Merrells, also! These boots exceeded my expectations from day one. They fit very comfortably, even with the layers of socks I use to prevent blisters. They were water resistant, although not totally waterproof, which meant that, even in the worst downpours, of which there were MANY, on rocky, muddy trails, my feet were only slightly moist and the boots dried overnight. They did not show any wear and tear, and the Vibram soles did not slip (yes, I used hiking poles). They fit well, were breathable, yet kept my feet relatively dry under the worst conditions (the video does not do them justice). I still love my Ventilators and will use them until they wear out but these were a good investment for the rugged use I put them through.
